Her former Glee costar Heather Morris has been expressing her grief on Instagram as well. Morris and Rivera played lovers Brittany and Santana, so the two were especially close. Morris posted a video of herself doing an interpretive dance to one of Rivera’s songs, explaining that it was “something very personal.”
“Grieving looks very differently on everyone… but one things for certain: I’ve felt it’s hard to feel joy or keep busy when mourning without thinking that you’re not honoring that person or you’re forgetting about them.”
Morris continued, explaining that she was focused on honoring Rivera through her life.
@hubbell_woodshop reminded me that honoring someone can mean you’re enjoying your life FOR them…”
Morris also talked about how she struggled with some social media specific anxieties, but that she was focused on creating a safe space.
“I made it to 1M followers in these last few weeks and at first I was resentful because I gained them from a tragedy, but after giving it a breath… I realized you all have just surrounded me with love and support. That I just see you angels wrapping your wings around me?? So I’m celebrating 1Million today in a tribute to @nayarivera with her music and her voice that will forever be my favorite.”
Morris also posted pictures of her children playing with Josey and explained a little more about what their friendship had evolved into over the years.
“We started out as the closest friends and then like all new things, we went through a bit of a rocky phase. However, we stuck by each other’s side and created the most beautiful friendship built out of love and understanding. The last I had the chance to see you in person, I left oranges outside our home for you to take. I wanted to say hi through the window but my phone didn’t ring when you called (which it never does, f*cking T-Mobile), so instead you and Josey left two succulent on our doorstep as a thank you. I planted those succulents and I look at them everyday and think of you. I still listen to your EP on repeat because from the moment I heard it, it struck me and I always wished the world knew more of your voice.”
Morris opined that while she and Rivera didn’t have enough pictures together, their friendship wasn’t for the ‘gram.
“We never took photos together because we mutually hated taking pictures… our relationship meant more than proof. I have countless pictures of our babies playing, because we shared that kind of pride and joy. So I’m showing the world a photo of our little goof balls for you, because I know that meant more than anything and they remind me of you and I. I speak to you everyday because I know you’re still with me and even though I’m feeling greedy that we don’t get more time together, I cherish every moment we had and hold it close to my heart.”
