Gervonta Davis is feeling quite lonely without a girlfriend amid him facing time behind bars for alleged domestic violence.
The fighter was in his feelings when he took to social media to write a message. The Shade Room captured the Instagram story where Gervonta wrote, “Single sh-t hit you hard at night..I want a wife” with a sad face emoji.
The timing of his post is interesting given Gervonta is still dealing with a misdemeanor simple battery domestic violence charge. Earlier this year, a video went viral of Gervonta allegedly assaulting his baby mama Dretta Starr at a charity basketball game in Florida.
In the video, Gervonta can be seen approaching his ex and grabbing her by the neck. He then pulls his ex out of the chair and to the back of the building. In the days after the video went viral, Gervonta wrote on social media, “I never once hit her, yea I was aggressive and told her come on… that’s the mother of my child I would never hurt her other than that happy New Years.. January was trash.”
The fighter would turn himself into police weeks later. The Coral Gables Police Department arrested him on the domestic violence charge.
The police released a statement, “As a result of an ongoing investigation after being notified through social media and the victim, on February 1, 2020, (Davis) was observed battering his former girlfriend (with) whom have a child together,” Coral Gables police said in a statement. “(Davis) surrendered himself to Coral Gables police detectives assigned to the case.”
Per the terms of his release from jail, Gervonta was ordered to stay away from Dretta and not contact his ex. He entered a plea of not guilty to the charge and is set to appear in court this month.
According to the police report, officers obtained security footage that shows Gervonta striking his ex in the face. The video also shows him, “pulling his arm back and then forward towards the victim, which is consistent with a strike to the face where the victim sustained injuries to her lip and left jaw.”
Davis’ ex cooperated with police in the investigation.
