Comedian Artie Lange pled guilty in a New Jersey court this morning to possession of 81 decks of heroin as part of his plea deal.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, in exchange for pleading guilty to the heroin charge, prosecutors dismissed charges for possession of cocaine.
FYI — the term "deck" usually refers to a bag of heroin weighing roughly 1-15 ounces and usually constitutes one dose. Cops say a deck usually costs between $5-10. #themoreyouknow
The Prosecutor's Office says that Lange said he would voluntarily enter a rehab facility, but it was not a condition of his deal.
Lange is expected to be released today and will be sentenced on February 23, 2018.
As The Blast previously reported, Lange was arrested on Tuesday for failing to appear in court after he was arrested on drug charges back in May.
UPDATE 11:43 AM PT: Frank Arleo, Artie Lange’s lawyer, tells The Blast: "We are doing everything we can to try to save Artie Lange’s life. Essex County Superior Court Judge Nancy Sivilli and prosecutor Tony Guitterez handled this matter with great compassion and also want Artie to get healthy. Please keep Artie in your prayers."
