1. Preparing For 'Black Widow'

After San Diego Comic Con, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are even more excited for the upcoming film, Black Widow. Hitting screens on May 1, 2020, Black Widow will focus on Natasha Romanov's exploits between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame. The film will also dig into her backstory and her history as a Russian spy.

2. Her 'Avengers: Endgame' Ending Was 'Bittersweet'

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Scarlett Johansson opened up about her character's death in Avengers: Endgame, sacrificing herself in order for Hawkeye to retrieve the Soul Stone.

"The finality of it was sad, but I was excited to die with honor. It felt in-character that she would sacrifice herself, of course for humanity but actually for her friends, for the people she loves. It was bittersweet."

3. Not An Easy Decision

The decision to kill off Natasha was not an easy one for Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who opened up about the narrative choice in the DVD commentary. McFeely explained:

"We should probably talk about how this is the first major female character of the Marvel [Cinematic] Universe. We did not make this decision lightly. She’s not fighting to save Clint’s family. I’ve seen some people say that he has a family, and therefore … That’s not it at all. She’s fighting to save her family."

Black Widow will definitely be missed, but we'll get one last ride with her in 2020. She still has some red in her ledger.
