Talk about rude!

“The Big Bang Theory” actress Mayim Bialik recently went on “The Late Late Show” to explain what ignited her feud with “How I Met Your Mother” star Neil Patrick Harris.

In an interview with James Corden, Bialik explained that she and her boyfriend went to see Harris perform a production of “Rent” in the 1990s. The show received a standing ovation, but Bialik was apparently less than impressed with the performance.

“I don’t want to stand for this,” Bialik told her boyfriend. When she looked up, Harris was on stage, reading her lips.

When she went backstage after the performance, he asked her, “Why did you say you weren’t going to stand up?”

Although Bialik excused herself as being a young teenager who wasn’t interested in musicals, she admits that she and Harris “didn’t speak for a long time.”

However, the ever-gracious Harris eventually forgave her and even sent Bialik flowers when he heard that she still felt guilty about the encounter.

Fan Reactions

Fans had a lot to say about Bialik’s snub.

“I don’t care that she doesn’t like musicals but not standing and clapping for a show your friend is in is rude af,” one fan wrote. “Even if your friend was s------y. Damn.”

Another wrote, “… even if you don’t enjoy the play, she should of stood up. They all worked hard and it’s the appropriate response. Not standing is just a jerk move, I’m glad Neil called her out on it.”

“Its ok if its not her thing,” another wrote. “But if you see your friend on stage doing his best, you stand up and clap when its time to do so. (She made it worse by telling her bf not to do a standing ovation) Its human nature, we love to be appreciated with our craft. We lift each other up, not tear each other down.”

One fan even asked, “What does Mayim like more, musicals or vaccines?”

Vaccine Controversy

Bialik has been at the center of a few controversies in recent months, ever since she was announced to take over the role of “Jeopardy!” host after executive producer Mike Richards was ousted for his offensive comments about women and minorities.

Even comedian John Oliver took a swing at Bialik in the September 26, 2021 episode of HBO’s “Last Week Tonight,” calling Bialik “A person I think is great because I don’t have Google.”

In her 2012 parenting book “Beyond the Sling,” Bialik admitted, “We made an informed decision not to vaccinate our children, but this is a very personal decision that should be made only after sufficient research, which today is within reach of every parent who seeks to learn about their child’s health regardless of their medical knowledge or educational status.”

However, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bialik has posted an approximately ten-minute long YouTube video to her channel, addressing her stance on vaccines.

Well aware of the controversy surrounding her decade-old publication, the “Blossom” child star switched up her stance regarding vaccines, insisting that “I have never, not once, said that vaccines are not valuable, not useful or necessary, because they are.”

Although she admitted that her children, aged 12 and 15, have never received a flu shot, Bialik herself insists that she is getting the coronavirus vaccine and a flu shot.

Bialik capped off the video by saying, “It is an unprecedented time; it is leaving many of us to unprecedented shifts in our comfort level. We are all in this together.”
