JoJo Siwa is going off on the network who helped make her a star, Nickelodeon, claiming they won't allow her to perform her OWN music during an upcoming tour!
The oversized-bow-wearing singer took to Twitter and slammed the children's network saying they are preventing her from performing certain songs on her 37-city D.R.E.A.M. tour that starts next year.
According to the 'Kid In A Candy Story' singer, the music in question comes from a newly released movie that included six original songs from the artist. The movie -- The J Team -- premiered over the summer on Paramount +.
"I go out on tour in January. My movie musical was just released (with 6 new original songs)… Nickelodeon told me today that I’m not allowed to perform/add any of the songs from the film into my show," JoJo began.
Nickelodeon Blocking JoJo Siwa From Performing Her Own Music?!
She continued, "These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does this seem fair???"
"There is no reason that this music should not be included. Working for a company as a real human being treated as only a brand is fun until it’s not," the singer tweeted. Adding, "I want my concert to be the BEST it can possibly be, and I want to perform the songs that YOU have been waiting to hear for 2 years. Having the music from my movie in my show is important to me, I wish it was important to Nickelodeon. Remember I’m a human, not just a brand."
Siwa doesn't exactly explain why the network wouldn't allow for her to promote and singer her own music -- but we are guessing it has something to do with her contracts. Plus, it is a musical movie, and if you can see it somewhere else -- it might cause issues with the number for the film.
JoJo Siwa Goes Off!!
As you can imagine, JoJo's fans are livid and are flooding her social media with messages of support. Including many who are hashtagging #Istandwithyoujojo, which is trending on Twitter.
"No. when nickelodeon tells you that you are not allowed to perform/add any of your songs from your film into your show. That's just completely not fair. It's YOUR songs, YOUR voice, YOUR writing," one fan wrote. Another added, "No it does not seem fair at all. These studios and corporations that depend on performers like YOU to make them money shouldn't be this much in control. If the movie/musical is out then you should be able to use your songs in your act."
Singer Getting Tons Of Support From Fans On Social Media!
Interestingly, JoJo's tour appears to be sponsored by or hosted by Nickelodeon...so it's unclear why they would have any issues with the music. On Siwa's own Twitter page, the promotions for the concert series have giant Nickelodeon banners across the top of it.
As we reported, Siwa is also preparing for this season of 'Dancing With The Stars.' The singer is the first celebrity to be paired with a same-sex dancing partner in the history of the show. JoJo announced earlier this year that she is dating her best friend, Kylie Prew.
I want my concert to be the BEST it can possibly be, and I want to perform the songs that YOU have been waiting to hear for 2 years. Having the music from my movie in my show is important to me, I wish it was important to Nickelodeon. Remember I’m a human, not just a brand.
