Jojo Siwa has been an open book since she first appeared on “Dance Moms” and then took her career into another universe with bows, tours and merchandise!
However, many fans were totally surprised, yet supportive, when Jojo came out as a member of the LGBTQ community earlier this year.
Since her coming out, the triple threat has been living her most authentic and happiest life.
During a recent interview with Demi Lovato on her podcast, “4D With Demi Lovato,” Jojo got even more candid about her sexuality and “gay awakenings.”
The YouTuber admitted that she’s always felt a strong connection to Lovato given they both came out around the same time. Jojo came out as a member of the LGBTQ community while Demi, who had already come out as bisexual in 2017, came out as non-binary in early 2021.
Jojo said, “Pride News, it was always me and you right there.”
Lovato applauded Jojo for coming out at such a young age saying, “I want to give you credit and kudos for coming out because I know how hard that is for just anybody to come out, but especially like for someone to have their s*** together at your age and to have a grasp on their identity is really powerful and I think inspiring to a lot of people.”
Lovato asked the 18-year-old if she had any apprehensions about coming out. Jojo’s biggest pull back was her girlfriend and her girlfriend’s family.
She wanted to make sure not only Kylie, her girlfriend, was ready to come out to the world, but Jojo also wanted to ensure Kylie’s family was prepared for the media storm that would soon engulf them.

Lucky for Jojo, the Internet kind of “outed me for me, all I had to do was confirm it.”
In January, the queen of bows posted a photo of herself wearing a shirt that read, “Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever.” which confirmed the speculation that had been circulating that month.
Lovato and Jojo also discussed her “gay awakenings,” which is something she and her girlfriend have been discussing recently.
“I’ve been figuring out my gay awakenings recently. I think I figured out my very first gay awakening was Jenna Dewan’s performance on ‘Lip Sync Battle,’” she said.
I think we ALL remember that hot and heavy performance of “Pony.”

Jojo revealed yet another connection to Demi that not even the podcast host knew about.
When discussing another one of her “gay awakenings,” Jojo revealed it was the singer’s back-up dancer, Jojo Gomez, who performed on her song, “Cool For The Summer.”
“I remember seeing that and just being a little too interested,” Jojo said.
In fact, Jojo’s girlfriend’s first gay awakening was at a Demi Lovato concert where she performed the same song.
