Britney Spears just made a very powerful statement about her independence after DELETING her Instagram page following the engagement to her boyfriend, Sam Asghari.
According to the ‘Toxic’ singer’s lawyer, she was the one who decided to take a break from social media and it was partially about sending a message that “silence” can be a powerful thing.
“She’s happy and in a great place,” a source told PageSix. Adding, “And silence can be a powerful thing and a powerful message.”
As you know, Britney made HUGE headlines over the weekend following the stunning news of her engagement to longtime boyfriend, Sam Asghari. The pop princess shared the big news on the very same Instagram page, including a photo of the massive Cartier diamond ring.
The engagement photos came on the heels of another huge story involving Britney Spear’s decision to bare it all on IG. In the past few days, she shared several photos of her backside, from inside of a bathroom — that left very little to the imagination. Britney followed the post with another revealing video, where she danced to Prince and tugged down on a tiny bikini.
In reaction to the post, Britney told fans she was annoyed by the reaction of some haters online to pointed out any flaws in her pictures…especially ones taken by the paparazzi.
As one source put it, Spears is taking a break from social media, “in light of the successful path that she’s been on and continues to be on [following] the news of her [engagement.]” At the same time, insiders pointed out that A-listers take breaks from Instagram and other social media all the time and this “shouldn’t be viewed as something negative for Spears.”
To be fair, many #FreeBritney supporters believed she wasn’t always controlling the content that was put forth on her Instagram account, especially when some of the footage and writings appeared to be a bit rambling and manic. But, Britney nor her team have ever confirmed anything on the page wasn’t authentically done by the pop star.
Plus, Britney’s social media manager broke her silence on the situation, claiming Spears is the mastermind behind all of her posts. “Britney creates her own posts and writes her own captions for Instagram,” she said. Adding, “She finds the google images, Pinterest images, quotes, memes, and everything else herself. Nobody is suggesting any of that stuff to her. She generally edits the videos herself.”
It should be noted, Britney is facing a major court decision — in the next few days — regarding the end of her conservatorship.
Many believe this could be a strategic move on her part to not allow anyone to use her social media posts as ammunition to keep it going. It’s understandable that near-nude photos and manic ramblings on IG might be a cause for concern for someone arguing against dropping the conservatorship.
Remember, Britney and Jamie Spears are both asking for the judge to end the 13-year conservatorship WITHOUT going through another lengthy evaluation of her mental health.
The bottom line…we are going to miss it!
