NeNe Leakes Breaks Silence After Husband Gregg Leakes Passing

NeNe Leakes has paid tribute to her late husband Gregg Leakes on Instagram. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star’s husband passed this week after a long battle with colon cancer. The 53-year-old posted a throwback video of her and her husband enjoying a dance to “It Would Be You” by artist Trey Songz.

Gregg, who passed on September 1 was an entrepreneur and had been married to Leakes for over 20 years. The sentimental video showed the couple effortlessly dancing to the love song.

The emotional video is the first time Leakes has said anything publicly about her husband since earlier this week when she had to put a fan in her place for attempting to scold the mother of two for not wishing her a “Happy Birthday” while at Leakes’s business Linnethia Lounge.

Leakes broke down at the club-goers insensitivity, in fact, she was so annoyed, that she had to share with fans that her husband was not doing well and was essentially “transitioning”.

“You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now…When people approach us and say, ‘You’re rude’, my husband is at home dying,” said Leakes on the mic at the lounge. “My husband is not going to be here in a couple of days.”

The shocking statement may have sounded dramatic but sure enough, just a few days later, the reality star’s husband and father to her children Bryson, and Brentt had passed.

It’s easy to see why Leakes chose this video to remember her husband. The two look very much in love and while Gregg had lost a significant amount of weight from his chemo treatments, he is still keeping up with his wife’s dance moves.

The couple who were married twice, left a lasting impression on reality TV with Leakes appearing on a handful of shows outside of the RHOA franchise.

While Leakes shared that almost certain, devastating information with her lounge patrons, she also posted on Instagram “Broken” with the prayer hand emoji.

However, the passing was confirmed by a family friend and publicist Ernest Dukes. “After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones, and wife Nene Leakes.”

The publicist continued, “we ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time.” noting that they are in "deep pain" currently.

Leakes and her children are surrounded by support from their reality TV family, friends, and loved ones.

Mariah Huq of Married To Medicine fame commented on Leakes post with a series of heart emojis and sends “love”, Kim Zolciak Biermann, who started the RHOA with Leakes also sent her condolences.
