This comes three months after he disclosed his decision to step back from the show that he has been a part of since August 2009. During his announcement, he noted that he was leaving due to health issues, thereby, putting an end to the unfounded rumors that he might have been fired from the show. Per a source, it was confirmed that Ronnie wasn't filming for season five stating that "The cast started filming a little here and there two weeks ago, but now they are all filming full force, sans Ron."

Ronnie’s departure came immediately after his domestic violence arrest—He and MTV honchos agreed that he needed some time away from the media coverage to seek treatment for issues he felt he was ignoring.

Backstory

On May 13, 2021, Ronnie put up an Instagram story that read;

“After talking to the team at MTV, we have mutually agreed that I will step away from the show while I seek medical treatment for mental health issues that I’ve ignored for too long.” He also added, “My number one goal now is facing my struggles head on. This process will be difficult, but my #1 priority is to get healthy and be the best man and the best father I can for my daughter.”

The announcement came weeks after Ronnie’s most recent clash with the law. On April 22, 2021, he was arrested on an alleged domestic violence case while his daughter Ariana was in his care. Although it was later clarified that this incident did not involve the child’s mother, Jenn Harley.

After the news spread like wildfire, Sapphire Matos, who’s Ronnie’s current girlfriend, made a post, claiming that all was well with her and beau. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the arrest was made on the premise of “intimate partner violence with injury with priors.” It’s relevant to note that before this, the reality star was on probation for an incident that happened in October 2019, while he was still with his now estranged wife, Harley.

In June, Ronnie’s ex, Harley, was arrested for domestic battery. She allegedly raised a gun at her boyfriend, Joseph Ambrosole, uttered expletives, and even threatened to kill him.

Reports confirmed that they initially got into an argument at a gentlemen's club and were asked to leave. During the car ride home, Harley allegedly threw Ambrosole's phone out of the car and when he got down to take it, she zoomed off, leaving him to get home on foot.
