Paramore FINALLY Gets Credited On Olivia Rodrigo's 'Good For You' After Comparison Backlash

Good 4 Paramore, because they officially got the credit they deserved.

Olivia Rodrigo’s generation of fans have been OBSESSED with songs and “new sound,” but what they may not know is that there was an entire generation of musicians before her that in a way created “her sound.”

At the very least they influenced it!

Olivia has faced criticism in recent months over claims of plagiarism and copying other musicians’ sound, specifically Paramore.

The pop-punk/rock band which formed in 2004 and consists of lead singer Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro.

Olivia’s song, “Good 4 You,” was widely compared to Paramore’s 2007 hit song, “Misery Business.”

The song has recently been updated to include songwriting credits from Paramore’s lead vocalist Williams and drummer Farro.

According to Billboard, the change was retroactively made to acknowledge an interpolation of the group's 2007 mega popular single, "Misery Business."

Williams celebrated the news on her Instagram Story on August 25.

She reposted Warner Chappell Music’s IG Story showing Olivia’s “Sour” album cover with “Good 4 U” as #1 on the top 40.

The post also included, “A huge shoutout to our writers Hayley Williams & Joshua Farro.”

Williams took this moment to note how WILD it is and captioned it, “our publisher is wildin rn.”

It’s unclear when the credit was given to Williams and Farro, but the good news is, credit was given where credit was due!

A source confirmed to Billboard that Rodrigo and Paramore's respective teams were in communication prior to the song's release in May.

Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, and St. Vincent were also added retroactively as co-writers for her song “Déjà Vu.” Those credits acknowledge an interpolation of the singer's 2019 song, "Cruel Summer."

Courtney Love is among the many that called Olivia out for plagiarism. Back in June, the ‘90s punk rocker spoke out about her distaste of Rodrigo’s “Sour Prom” promo photos copying the Hole’s 1994 album cover for “Live Through This.”

On social media she wrote, she wrote, “Stealing an original idea and not asking permission is rude. There’s no way to be elegant about it.”

Love admitted she wasn’t “mad” because it’s happened her “entire career,” but at the end of the day manners are manners.
