Savannah and her family have endured an agonizing ordeal following the abduction of her mother, Nancy, and the exhaustive, ongoing search for her whereabouts since February.

Things recently took a turn for the worse when it was revealed that a ransom note had been sent to the journalist’s family, apologizing that Nancy was dead, which prompted her to break character on live on the “Today” show, when the topic was brought up.

Regarding the emotional moment, an insider shared with Page Six that “It was a sad day” behind the scenes following Savannah’s breakdown on air over her mother’s disappearance.

“A lot of people at ‘Today’ are affected by it,” the source noted. “There was a sense of sadness today. Everybody just feels so bad for her. There is a lot of uncertainty.”

“There is a lot of admiration and praise for her that she is still able to do her job. People really support her and care about her, and people are heartbroken,” the source added.

On the Tuesday episode of the “Today” show, Savannah noted that she had “no comments” about the new development in her mother’s case, noting that she is “not involved in” the coverage of the news.

However, the journalist admitted that she couldn’t “pretend” not to be present while it was being discussed, which prompted her to break character and make a direct plea to viewers for help.

“I just wanted to take the opportunity to really ask people and really beg people to come forward because somebody knows something,” Savannah said on the show.

She continued, “This is a news story today that is on your radar, but this is the life my sister, [Annie Guthrie], lives, that I live, that my brother, [Camron Guthrie], lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day.”

“We cannot be at peace,” Savannah continued. “No matter how much I try to come out here every day and smile and find that joy — and I will, I promise I will — this is a moment to say we need your help. … I’m not gonna miss that opportunity.”

She concluded her heartfelt appeal by reinforcing her family’s resolve, stating, “We love our mom, and we’ll never stop looking for her. Ever.”

On social media, Savannah was flooded with messages of support after her plea for help went viral, with many even advising her to step back from her role on “Today.”

A person on X said, “We are all with you, Savannah. I don’t even know you, and my heart breaks for you as well. I’m praying the dear Lord finds the person that did this or if somebody knows something they will come forward. With God, all things are possible.”

Another noted, “Man, I can’t imagine carrying that kind of uncertainty every day. My heart goes out to Savannah and her family. If somebody out there knows something, I hope they find it in themselves to come forward and help bring some peace.”

One individual, subtly criticizing the journalist, wrote: “Here’s an idea…go away from TV. Not to be mean, but she won’t find that joy until she finds that peace. I truly feel bad for Ms. Guthrie…I honestly do. For her to have zero closure on this is brutal. Someone knows something. I guarantee it’s REALLY close to the family.”

Insiders Claim Investigators Are Second-Guessing Their Decision Not To Pay The Initial Ransom Demanded By The Alleged Kidnappers

Sources linked to the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case are reportedly second-guessing their decision not to pay the initial $4M in bitcoin demanded in exchange for the release of the 84-year-old.

Shortly after news of the kidnapping broke, media outlets like TMZ reportedly received ransom emails demanding funds, and unlike subsequent hoaxes, this initial note contained specific details about Nancy that had not yet been disclosed to the public.

The ransom note also included a Bitcoin wallet, which Crypto experts believe exposed the alleged kidnappers as amateurs. However, detectives are now focusing on a potentially massive $152 mistake made during the initial phases of the abduction.

According to the New York Post, instead of depositing the $4M into the bitcoin wallet, the FBI deposited just $152, hoping the captors would transfer the funds and allow cyber experts to track their digital footprint.

But the $152 has remained in the wallet, untouched, which hints that the strategy, typically called “tickling the wire,” may have failed, and forced the kidnappers to go into hiding.

Meanwhile, Savannah has sparked concern among her friends after taking on a new hosting job amid her mother’s disappearance.

The journalist is set to host NBC’s new “Wordle” game show, but those close to her reportedly fear she’s pushing herself too hard, while in a vulnerable state.

“People around Savannah are worried because she never stops,” an insider claimed, per The Blast. “She’s grieving, she’s under pressure at ‘Today,’ ratings are tightening, and instead of slowing down, she keeps adding more work.”

Another source noted, “She’s one of the hardest-working people in television. The fear isn’t that she’ll fail — it’s that she’s carrying too much for too long.”
