Whoopi Goldberg and the rest of the “The View” panel called out U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, June 11, in response to his viral “I love the inflation” comment. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Consumer Price Index rose for the third consecutive month, with May’s 4.2% year-over-year increase marking the first time inflation has topped 4% since 2023.

‘The View’ Rips Into Donald Trump For His ‘Inflation’ Comment

On June 11, “The View” discussed the viral comment where U.S. President Donald Trump said, “I love the inflation” to reporters. Moderator Whoopi Goldberg noted that he later tried to walk back the comment.

Following the viral exchange, the President told the New York Post that he meant he “loved” that the figures weren’t any higher than they were, and claimed that he was being taken out of context.

Goldberg then openly wondered whether he goes outside and actually talks to people to get everyday Americans’ opinions on things like this, to which most of the cohosts responded, “No.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin said that the four-word phrase is “coming to a Democratic ad near you” and noted the “unbelievable” economic numbers. “People are really hurting. Inflation is at four-point-two percent,” she added.

Chuck Schumer Hits Back At Donald Trump

Indeed, Democratic rivals have already been taking to social media to rebuke his comments. “Trump really said, ‘I love the inflation.’ On camera. For all of America to hear,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer posted on X. “His contempt for you knows no bounds.”

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, the House Minority Leader, also released a statement, saying that Trump’s comment was “extraordinary” and the only conclusion he could draw was that Trump “doesn’t give a d-mn about making life better for everyday Americans.”

Griffin then cited a study that claimed Americans are spending nearly $300 more per month due to inflation. She went on to say that ten percent of Americans suffer from food insecurity, which is higher than during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

She went on to say, “People are hurting, and a lot of Americans voted for this President because they thought he would address the cost of living, and here we are now, in a war that nobody wanted, saying, ‘I love the inflation.’ Not good. Not good.”

The cohosts agreed that the comment was “tone-deaf” when most Americans can’t afford a $400 medical bill without risking bankruptcy. The conversation also ventured into the topic of the UFC fight on the White House lawn and the ballroom that Trump is currently building.

“You can’t keep coming to the taxpayers. We are not a wallet,” Goldberg said, noting that Americans are trying to focus on raising their families. “I don’t have a ballroom. You don’t have a ballroom. Nobody in this room has a ballroom… I don’t think!”

She noted that people are trying to feed their families, put gas in their car, and get to work, before seemingly speaking to the POTUS himself: “You’ve got to go. It’s time. You know, I say that with all due respect.”

“A lot of people put all their hopes and dreams in you,” she continued. “And now, their hopes and dreams have taken a back seat to insane stuff for this country, so please, y’all, you have the power to make this change. You have the power.”

“Every vote in this country counts,” she said. “Go and exercise your right to vote for whoever you decide, because there’s a lot of folks and this is something that I try to say all the time. I’ve known Republicans and Independents my whole life. This is different. So do your homework, find out who has your best interests and please, please, don’t sit back. We cannot afford it this time.”

J.D. Vance Is Coming To ‘The View’ Next Tuesday

She then reminded fans that Vice President J.D. Vance would be joining the table on Tuesday, June 16. It’s a conversation that many are looking forward to. ABC announced his appearance in a press release, which explained that Vance would be joining Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro, live in the show’s NYC studio to discuss his new book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.”

In addition to his new book, Vance is also expected to discuss “priorities and goals for the administration and the latest political headlines.” This would mark his first appearance on “The View.”
