Joy Behar is preparing to temporarily step away from “The View,” leaving the daytime talk show scrambling to reshuffle its lineup while a string of guest hosts fill her seat.
The longtime co-host revealed on Tuesday that she will miss several upcoming episodes as she heads overseas for a vacation before taking her comedy play to London’s West End.
While Behar insisted the break is only temporary, producers are already reorganizing schedules behind the scenes to keep the show running smoothly during her absence.
Joy Behar Announces Temporary Exit From ‘The View’

Joy Behar surprised fans this week when she confirmed she would be stepping away from “The View” for a short hiatus.
The 83-year-old television veteran shared the update while appearing on The View’s “Behind the Table” podcast with executive producer Brian Teta on Tuesday.
Teta first raised the topic by reminding listeners that it would be Behar’s final podcast episode for a while.
“This is your last podcast for a little bit, because next week you’re not going to be here. Are we talking about this?” he asked.
Behar quickly responded by joking about production preparations for her time away. “Well, they made me bank the weekend shows even though I’m not here. You better tell people why I’m not [going to be on the show],” she replied.
The longtime co-host then explained that she would be leaving for Europe before eventually heading to London for a theater production. “I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the tunnel to London after a week,” Behar shared.
Behar Reveals Plans For London Stage Production

While Joy Behar will enjoy a short vacation in Europe, work is still very much part of her itinerary.
The comedian explained that she will spend part of her trip starring in her comedy production “My First Ex-Husband” at the Boulevard Theatre in London’s West End.
“And I’ll be in London a second week doing my play, My First Ex-Husband, at the Boulevard Theatre in the West End,” she said.
Behar also teased details about the cast, revealing that actress Jackie Hoffman would be joining her in the production.
“We have Jackie Hoffman and I being the two American women talking, then we have two British actresses. Doesn’t that sound like fun?” she added.
“My First Ex-Husband” marked a major career milestone for Behar after premiering Off-Broadway in New York City in February 2025.
The comedy centers on relationships, marriage, and divorce, subjects Behar has frequently joked about throughout her career on television and stage.
Joy Behar’s Exit Forces ‘The View’ To Shuffle Its Hosting Lineup

With Behar temporarily away from the table, “The View” producers are already lining up several familiar names to fill her chair.
Teta revealed that CNN contributor and outspoken Donald Trump critic Kara Swisher would appear as one of the guest hosts during Behar’s absence.
“Next week we’re going to have Kara Swisher, who’s very funny, very smart, she’ll be great,” Teta said. Comedian and television host Sheryl Underwood is also scheduled to appear on the panel.
Meanwhile, Ana Navarro, who usually appears only on Mondays and Fridays, will take on additional hosting duties while Behar is gone. Whoopi Goldberg may also need to alter her normal schedule to help cover the vacancy.
“I don’t think she knows yet,” Teta joked, adding, “but I’ll let her know that she’s going to be here.”
Aside from Goldberg and Navarro, the current panel also includes Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
Behar Previously Missed Episodes Due To Health Issues And Injury

Joy Behar’s latest hiatus is far from the first time she has temporarily stepped away from the show. Earlier this year, she missed six episodes because of health-related issues.
At the time, Goldberg briefly addressed the situation live on air. “We want to let you know Joy is out, she’s not feeling well, so we want her to feel better and get her behind back here,” Goldberg said per the Daily Mail.
Last autumn, Behar was also forced to sit out several episodes after suffering a painful foot injury.
Explaining what happened in a later broadcast, she said, “I dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe,” the television personality explained in November.
Despite those setbacks, Behar has continued maintaining a busy schedule between television appearances, interviews, writing projects, and now theater productions.
Joy Behar Has Remained One Of ‘The View’s’ Most Enduring Stars

Behar remains one of the few original personalities still strongly associated with “The View.” She joined the daytime panel during the show’s debut season in 1997 and became known for her outspoken political takes and sharp comedic timing.
Although she briefly departed the series in 2013, Behar returned in 2015 and has remained a staple of the program ever since.
Over the years, she has continued balancing television with other creative projects, including writing and stage work. Behar has also made it clear that retirement is not an option for now.
“I just really like to write and create stuff. Creative people don’t really retire. They don’t resign, they just keep going,’ she told Entertainment Tonight in September 2025.
In the meantime, “The View” will continue adjusting its rotating lineup until the veteran host eventually returns to her seat at the table.
