Meghan McCain is not holding back when it comes to Jimmy Kimmel. The political commentator publicly blasted the late-night host after Kimmel mocked Spencer Pratt’s failed Los Angeles mayoral run, calling the comedian “mean” and “heartless” in a fiery social media post. Meghan McCain’s criticism quickly sparked heated debate online, with some agreeing with her assessment of Jimmy Kimmel while others accused her of hypocrisy.
Meghan McCain Slams Jimmy Kimmel Over Spencer Pratt Mockery

The controversy began after Kimmel poked fun at “The Hills” alum Spencer Pratt during Tuesday night’s monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Pratt, who ran as a Republican candidate and received an endorsement from President Donald Trump, had previously vowed to leave Los Angeles if either incumbent Mayor Karen Bass or city councilmember Nithya Raman won.
After Pratt failed to advance in the mayoral primary, Kimmel seized the moment. “He clearly promised that if Karen Bass or Nithya Raman were elected mayor, he’s going to move out of L.A.,” Kimmel said. “He said he was done with L.A., and Spencer, if you’re watching, we are so, so sorry to see you go.”
The late-night host then jokingly offered to help Pratt relocate. “You said you were going to go and I know things might be tight right now, especially out-of-state donation money is running out,” he said. “Moving is expensive. So to help you out we rented you a U-Haul.”
The comedian even unveiled a decorated U-Haul truck complete with balloons, a cutout of Pratt looking upset, and a sign reading “Just defeated.” “Our staff spent the whole day decorating for you – and everybody will notice you and wave goodbye as you leave,” Kimmel joked.
He later added that he hoped Pratt and wife Heidi Montag would be “happy wherever” they ended up.
McCain Calls Kimmel ‘Mean’ And ‘Heartless’

McCain, daughter of late Senator John McCain, wasted little time reacting to the segment. Taking to X on Wednesday, the former “View” co-host blasted Kimmel in blunt terms. “Jimmy Kimmel is a mean, heartless b-astard and no amount of on-air crying will convince me or anyone else otherwise,” McCain wrote.
She followed up with an even harsher criticism of the ABC personality, writing, “The day he is off air will be a better day for the country.”
Social Media Split Over Meghan McCain’s Comments

McCain’s remarks quickly divided social media users. Some backed her criticism of Kimmel, arguing late-night television has become overly political.
“If we could just remove his show and ‘The View’ the world would be a better place!” one person wrote. Another user added that “it’s a travesty that ABC gets privileged use of the public airwaves for divisive, narrow-minded and tendentious shows like this.”
Others noted the difference between a late-night host and a politician. “Right, because Jimmy Kimmel is checks notes in the entertainment industry and doesn’t run our country,” one commenter wrote. “F-ck off Meghan.”
Meanwhile, some pushed back hard against McCain’s outrage. Several critics pointed out Donald Trump’s past criticism of her father, Senator John McCain, after Trump controversially said in 2015 that he was “not a war hero.”
“Has anyone ever heard Meghan defend her father @SenJohnMcCain against the awful lies that Trump said about her father????” one user asked. Another person wrote: “You support Donald Trump! He says meaner things about your dead father you fing hypocrite!!! WHAT THE F-ck IS WRONG WITH YOU???”
Spencer Pratt Fires Back At Jimmy Kimmel’s Moving Joke

Pratt did not seem particularly amused by Kimmel’s elaborate joke, or his offer to help him leave Los Angeles. After Kimmel unveiled a decorated U-Haul truck during his monologue, the former reality star took to social media to remind the late-night host why moving is not exactly an issue these days.
“Jimmy Kimmel I guess you missed the part of the story i don’t need a U-Haul…I have nothing left to pack,” Pratt wrote alongside footage showing the aftermath of the devastating Pacific Palisades fire that destroyed his family’s home.
The former “Hills” star has repeatedly spoken publicly about losing everything in the January 2025 wildfire, even previously shutting down another fan’s offer to help him relocate.
After one social media user offered to send him moving boxes, Pratt responded bluntly: “No, Karen Bass let my house burn down. Everything I owned burned in my house.”
Spencer Pratt’s Political Run Came Up Short

Pratt entered the Los Angeles mayoral race following the fire and earned support from several celebrities, along with an endorsement from President Donald Trump. However, despite an early push, the reality star ultimately fell short in the June 2 primary election.
