Dennis Quaid is not apologetic about his decision to leave Los Angeles behind!
The actor revealed that moving out of the City of Angeles when he did was a fantastic choice for him, considering how much the city has been through since then, including the damaging fires and economic problems.
Dennis Quaid was in the news recently, facing considerable backlash for his open display of support for President Donald Trump.
Dennis Quaid Is Not Very Positive About The Future Of Los Angeles

The media personality opened up about the reason why he left Los Angeles for Nashville with his family in 2020, alongside thousands of other residents. According to the actor, he watched the once-bubbly city slowly lose its appeal due to rising taxes and mismanagement of the city by its leadership.
“It used to be such a great town, and the ’90s were nice. And then it’s been kind of going downhill, and I feel like people pay these taxes for no services is what it gets down to,” the actor declared.
According to Quaid, recent events like the Palisades Pacific wildfire, which destroyed thousands of homes, further displaced the faith of residents in the city and exposed long-standing issues to the surface.
He added in his interview with Fox News that the disaster got locals more frustrated, disappointed, and discouraged about the direction the city was headed.
Quaid emphasized that his feelings toward Los Angeles remain emotional, and he remains hopeful that the city will eventually recover and regain the positive sense of community and vibrancy it is fondly remembered for.
While Nashville is now the actor’s primary address, Quaid still owns property in Los Angeles’ Brentwood area. Unfortunately, in January 2025, he found himself among residents forced to evacuate during the wildfires, which left thousands of losses in its trail.
The ‘Innerspace’ Actor Criticized Los Angeles Leadership, Backed Spencer Pratt For Mayor

After the California wildfire, Quaid criticized the Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for her manner of approach towards the fire and how she handled the aftermath, especially choosing to take a trip to Ghana as the emergency unfolded.
Quaid equally raised genuine concerns about other pressing issues, including water shortages and decisions affecting the Los Angeles Fire Department’s budget, which reflected on the city’s preparedness to handle the disaster.
In the months that followed, the media personality became a consistent voice in joining public calls for accountability by getting involved in protests. He subsequently joined the “They Let Us Burn” demonstrations, as part of increasing agitations for Bass to resign while supporting the recall campaigns.
As an independent voter who leans conservative, Quaid has been vocal about Hollywood’s evolving political climate. He endorsed Trump publicly before the upcoming 2024 election and has done several public appearances at conservative events.
Quaid also announced his support for former reality TV star Pratt for Mayor in Los Angeles, adding that it takes someone who knows the city to lead it. The endorsement came without hesitation from Pratt, the registered Republican running as an independent figure in the race.
Dennis Quaid On His Public Support For President Donald Trump

Back in March, Quaid pushed back against the phenomenon of political double standards in Hollywood. As noted by The Blast, the actor’s declaration followed the backlash he faced for joining the president aboard Air Force One.
Quaid argued in an interview that expressing oneself politically in Hollywood now feels very one-sided, and anti-Trump views have become the norm in Hollywood, against a pocket of celebrities supporting the politician.
The actor raved about getting to experience life on Air Force One, which felt like some scene straight out of a Hollywood action movie with real-life military officers and high-grade security ops.
He recalled the flight happening shortly before Trump ordered strikes against Iran by U.S. forces, all while being calm and collected.
The actor continued that Trump reminded him of Ronald Reagan in a way; however, the clip of his interaction with Trump shared by Senator Ted Cruz overshadowed whatever magic he was feeling.
The 72-Year-Old Finds Rhythm In Nashville, Exploring New Projects

Quaid, who now lives with his wife, Lauren Savoie, in Nashville, likened his experience there to that of his Texan roots and the people he grew up with. As shared by City Lifestyle, he has since gotten familiar with the music scene in that city, although it has always been part of who he is.
The actor has been in the music industry for decades, a move that began when he started writing songs at just 12, before adding filmmaking to the list. Now, he is gearing up to release a gospel album, which is a culmination of both classic songs and original tracks.
He revealed that one of the tracks, “On My Way to Heaven,” was penned decades ago for his mother, and the single basically inspired the direction of his upcoming musical project.
However, his passion also still remains with acting, and his fans would get to see him on Netflix’s “Blue Miracle,” which is a true story about orphans about to lose their orphanage.
Dennis Quaid Returned To Court To Put An End To His Child Support Obligations

In May, The Blast noted that the actor headed to court with a request that the court officially pull the plug on his child support obligations after his kids graduated from high school and clocked 18.
Quaid and his former wife, Kimberly Buffington, finalized their divorce in 2018, after which the actor was ordered to sort her $13,750 in monthly child support payments.
The agreement not only had a set monthly payment, but also additional financial payments when the actor earned more than a predetermined amount per year. Quaid’s request was specifically linked to the graduation timeline of the twins as stated in the court filing.
The actor’s daughter Zoe reportedly graduated on May 23, while son Thomas is expected to complete high school on June 3. In addition, Quaid is seeking the court to adjust the calculation of any income-based support.
Instead of using his entire income for the year, the actor offered to dedicate the surplus, if any, to the period in which the twins graduated.
The request, if granted, would officially eliminate Quaid’s child support obligations and end a lengthy financial agreement that has been in effect since the couple divorced.
