Donald Trump strikes again, reassures the booers he cannot hear them above the noise!
The politician cannot be bothered by the loud boos that trailed his attendance at Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, alongside his granddaughter, on June 8, 2026.
Donald Trump has been a target of loud public disapproval ever since he kick-started his political career in 2015 by launching his presidential campaign at Trump Tower.
Donald Trump’s Review Of The Atmosphere At The NBA Finals
Trump brushed off the reaction he received from fans during Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, noting that he interpreted the crowd’s loud noise as a supportive gesture.
In his chat with reporters before departing the venue in the presidential carrier, the politician described the energy inside the arena as very positive and encouraging, and he was not left out in receiving it.
Well, Trump’s review was a far cry from what is being circulated online as evidence of mass disapproval from attendees at the game who responded to visuals of Trump during the national anthem with loud boos.
The politician did not attend the event alone, as he was captured spending quality time in a suite at Madison Square Garden with his granddaughter, Kai Trump, where he threw a salute during “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The president also kicked it with Knicks owner James Dolan in the suite during the game.
The President’s Presence At The Game Described As A Historic One
Trump appeared as regular as he could be, aside from the heavy security presence in the arena due to his presence, which included multiple city blocks around the MSG being shut down. The politician was also spotted grabbing some bites from pizza and fries during the matchup.
Unfortunately for the Knicks, whom Trump has been described as a genuine fan of, they were defeated by the San Antonio Spurs in the June 8 game with a 115-111 score, cutting their lead in the best-of-seven series in half.
Despite the mixed reaction from the crowd, the appearance marked a historic moment, as ESPN’s Mike Breen confirmed. According to him, “Tonight, President Donald Trump becomes the first United States president to attend an NBA Finals game,” and he added that the president loved what he saw.
How Donald Trump Has Turned Game Day Appearances Into Political Flashpoints

While presidents have typically been welcomed with pomp and pageantry at sporting events in the past, regardless of their political stance, Trump’s luck has carried a unique undertone. His presence at various events over several years has repeatedly captured the pulse of public opinion on different sporting events.
According to Cassiuslife, one of the earliest instances occurred during the 2015 U.S. Open quarter-final match between Serena and Venus Williams in New York, when Trump got booed as his political journey got underway.
The sentiment was more mixed at the 2018 College Football National Championship between Alabama and Georgia, with cheers and boos heard throughout the stadium.
Another memorable moment was in 2019 during Game 5 of the World Series in Washington, D.C., where Trump was greeted by boos and chants from some in the crowd, marking one of the most discussed political-sports moments of his first term.
Days later, a similar split reaction followed him to UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden despite the sport being viewed as having a more favorable audience. The pattern has been ongoing since 2025.
Trump drew mixed reactions at the U.S. Open men’s final, at a Yankees game on the anniversary of 9/11, and during an NFL appearance that made history as one of the few regular-season presidential visits.
Inside The Politician’s Appearance At The Indiana-Miami Championship Game In January

Yahoo Sports shared in January that the president received a similar reaction from the fans when he attended the national championship game between Indiana University and the University of Miami.
As soon as the media personality’s face appeared on the stadium’s video board during the national anthem section, game goers at the Hard Rock Stadium erupted in a mix of cheers and boos.
Watch parties across America, like the one held at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Indiana University’s Bloomington campus, also recorded extreme vocal reactions like that from viewers. His appearance came after a busy holiday weekend filled with reports about the United States acquiring Greenland.
The president had also announced plans to impose new tariffs on eight European countries if the United States’ efforts in Greenland do not move forward.
Aside from attending NBA games, Trump also made regular appearances at UFC events and planned to host UFC Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn earlier in the year, making him the first president to do so.
Donald Trump’s Attendance At The NBA Finals Game Cost Fans Their Watch Party

As expected, Trump’s attendance brought heightened security measures around Madison Square Garden on Monday night and the days leading up to that. As reported by The Blast, officials had to cancel the large outdoor watch party organized by fans right outside MSG.
The New York Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service announced they had decided to shut down the watch party in line with expanded security directives. They promised that fans can reorganize their watch party on the next game day (Game 4), which is June 10.
Madison Square Garden management also confirmed that city officials, who were in collaboration with the NYPD, denied the permit for the Plaza33 viewing event. While the fans’ disappointment was acknowledged by the Secret Service, its spokesperson maintained that it was impractical to permit such a large gathering outside the venue.
