Mike Sorrentino‘s destination is politics, but he wants to make a purposeful stop first!

The American television personality has taken a new approach at joining politics with an aim to help eradicate the menace of addiction by helping struggling victims find solace.

Mike Sorrentino made waves on “Jersey Shore,” similar to budding politician Spencer Pratt, who was also a reality star. “The Situation,” as he is fondly called, celebrated one decade being sober from any harmful substance last December.

During his interview at VUE Magazine’s spring edition party, Sorrentino revealed that he could see a bright future for himself in politics right after he ticked all the boxes for his current goals.

The reality star revealed that his current primary focus is expanding “Archangel” Centers, a network of drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities he co-founded in partnership with Ascend Behavioral Health Network. 

Sorrentino continued that the bigger picture is to also establish an Archangel Center in all 50 states over the next several years. Once that mission is accomplished, he joked that people could start calling him “Governor Situation.” 

Despite these golden plans, the reality star is yet to align himself with any political party but is sure that the people of New Jersey will key into the idea of lower property taxes.

Through his partnership with Archangel Center, the reality star continues to spread messages of hope, experience, and strength across treatment facilities, schools, and colleges.

The Reality Star Has A Big Comeback Story

Earlier in the month, the television personality got candid about his sobriety journey, which has gone on for 11 years. The reflection came during the premiere of “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” where he gave his wife, Lauren Sorrentino, credit for helping him make the big change his life deserves.

The reality star confessed that he finds even greater fulfillment and a bigger purpose in helping others through recovery than in being on television and entertaining strangers.

The MTV alum got married to his wife in 2018 after meeting in a college math class when Lauren was 19, and he was 22, and subsequently dated for four years. Lauren and the reality star tied the knot a few months before the media personality was slammed with an 8-month prison sentence for tax evasion.

Mike Sorrentino Confessed To Spending A Killing To Satisfy His Reckless Addiction

Sorrentino has never been afraid to talk about the addiction that almost took him down before he got clean and sober. As stated by The Blast, the reality television star previously admitted he was spending nearly $500,000 on drugs at some point in the course of his substance abuse problems.

In retrospect, Sorrentino described that action as being reckless and out of control to let addiction take over his finances and way of life. He continued that dependence on drugs became so severe that he rarely went anywhere without carrying substances with him. 

The reality star remembered using cocaine, oxycodone, Xanax, and Valium to deal with the stress of living in the public eye and working fast. Sorrentino explained that he initially convinced himself the drugs were helping him maintain his energy levels and keep up with the demands of work.

The Father-Of-Three Detailed His Addiction Struggles In His Memoir

In 2023, The Blast reported that the television star noted his plan to document all his life’s experiences in a book. According to him, the book will contain important moments in his life, including the happy times and the sad ones.

The plan to create a memoir was born out of a burning desire to build a better world and give people with an addiction a hope tpeople with a substance use disorder future may be better. Sharing the book’s cover on Instagram, the “Jersey Shore” alum revealed that he had spent more than a year writing the autobiography. 

The memoir documented one of his toughest times, when he played with heroin and lost a close friend in his life. It also encompassed moments where he was struggling financially and suffering from homelessness, and finally, when he mustered up the strength to pick up the shattered pieces of his life.

Mike Sorrentino Has First-Hand Experience With Handling Crisis

In 2024, the MTV alum shared a video on Instagram that captured a nightmare involving their son choking during a family dinner. Romeo, the couple’s son, began coughing at the end of the table, prompting his folks to wonder if the spices were too hot.

Realizing his son was choking, Sorrentino immediately sprang into action, rushing from his seat and patting Romeo on the back in an attempt to clear the obstruction. His wife also went to the kitchen counter and quietly requested the reality star to give her a tool to help her dislodge the food. 

Neither parent panicked and Romeo remained calm as they worked to clear his airway. But their efforts were rewarded when the blockage was finally cleared. Romeo immediately began coughing and crying as Lauren wrapped him in a comforting embrace.
