Tupac Shakur‘s murder suspect, Duane “Keefe D” Davis, is said to have bragged about his involvement in the gruesome act in new bombshell audio recordings.

The alleged recordings could be brought up in the trial, but Davis’s lawyers have downplayed their significance.

Davis’ lawyer has also said he is not bothered about being possibly outed by Tupac Shakur’s friend and business partner, Suge Knight, in an upcoming memoir.

Tupac’s murder case just took a more complicated turn as several new recordings allegedly captured suspect Duane “Keefe D” Davis bragging about his direct involvement in the rapper’s death.

According to the New York Post, a Las Vegas source claimed that Davis’ remarks were captured in several recorded phone calls behind bars, and prosecutors are characterizing them as explicit confessions.

It’s understood that they could bring them up as evidence for the state during his upcoming first-degree murder trial, which begins in Las Vegas on August 10.

The insider said it was Davis’s “first amendment right” to be able to talk about Tupac, but prosecutors believe he admitted to being involved in the crime as he was discussing potential TV and film projects related to the case.

Davis Has Previously Admitted To The Crime

Davis, a former Compton South Side Crips gang leader, was arrested in September 2023 and remains the only person ever criminally charged in connection with the drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip that claimed Tupac’s life nearly 3 decades ago.

He has denied any involvement in Tupac’s murder but allegedly confessed to his involvement in two prior confessions made during police interviews, as well as TV interviews and his memoir.

However, he claims those admissions were only done for “fame and fortune,” and that they don’t hold any water.

Indeed, Davis tried to sell rights to his memoir “Compton Street Legend” to several production and media houses before he was arrested in 2023.

The Alleged Killer’s Lawyer Dismissed The Existence Of New Recordings As Insignificant

Meanwhile, Davis’ lawyer, Michael Sanft, is singing a completely different tune, explaining that the alleged recordings are not significant.

“Here’s the thing at the end of the day, when the state of Nevada has to rely on that kind of information to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, they’ve got a huge problem,” Sanft said.

“And I’ve seen the state before, they’ll listen to the phone calls, but it’s sort of like, ‘Nah, we don’t care. We don’t need them,'” he added about the alleged new recordings of Davis.

The legal expert, however, took issue with the alleged killer’s quest for fame, as it seems to complicate the whole case for him.

“Do I agree with him writing the book and doing all these interviews? No,” Sanft said about Davis’ past behavior.

He continued, “Keefe knows that I’m in his corner, and I have a personal pride issue here because I want to win this case too, and I want to do the best job for Keefe that I can.”

Besides the recording, the alleged killer, Davis, has also said he is unconcerned about the potential of being exposed in Suge Knight’s upcoming memoir “Your Pain is My Joy,” which drops August 4.

Knight, who’s serving a 28-year jail term for a 2015 hit-and-run incident, was in the driver’s seat when Tupac was fatally gunned down, and barely escaped by a thread.

He has promised to release intricate details about the night it all went down, but Sanft said Davis is not afraid he could be named in the book.

They have also stressed that they are not bothered by the impact it could have on the jury or trial.

“Honestly, at the end of the day, I don’t think Suge’s going to participate in this case at all,” Sanft told the New York Post.

He continued, “What’s interesting about Suge is that he has announced that he will be publishing a book on August 4. In that book, he will identify the shooter. I don’t even know what’s going to be in the book. At this particular point, it is what it is.”

Davis’ lawyer further noted that if Knight “says one thing or another thing” about the Tupac shooting, it likely won’t matter for their defense.

Speaking on the possibility that the potential revelations could sway public opinion and impact the jury, Sanft said he has faith in the system and believes due process will supersede.

“It’s a very tall ask of most people, especially in today’s interconnected world that we live in, but I still have to have faith and trust in the system and in the promises and oaths taken by jurors that they will do what they are promising us to do,” the lawyer stated.

He continued, “And it’s not just for me, it’s also for the state of Nevada.”
