Spencer Pratt has gained a ton of media attention since announcing his run for mayor of Los Angeles. Now, Mauricio Umansky of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” fame, and the estranged husband of Kyle Richards, says he’s not ruling out a run of his own for the same office in the future. Plus, he’s responding to Lisa Rinna‘s comments about not wanting reality stars in politics.

Mauricio Umansky Has Considered Running For Mayor Of LA Before

Umansky appeared on the “Tomi Lahren is Fearless” podcast in May 2026. While on, the host played him a clip of Rinna discussing Pratt’s run for office, in which she said, “we’ve already done that,” referring to electing reality stars.

After that, Lahren and Umansky slammed Rinna for seemingly supporting Karen Bass by saying, “Let’s have somebody that’s already been mayor.” However, it should be noted that later in the clip Rinna named other mayors who could be great for Los Angeles.

He claimed, “But yet, she doesn’t want to say the name.” Umansky went on, “Let me tell you something: I’m a reality star, and I’ve thought many times about running for mayor. I actually think I could help the city and do some stuff. So, you know, don’t be surprised if I come at this thing in a few years, on the next election.”

Umansky Then Defended Spencer Pratt

Umansky and Lahren continued their conversation, with him shooting down Rinna for seemingly comparing Pratt to Donald Trump. He said, “But yeah, I think that there are people that can do a lot of different stuff out there, and I don’t know how that comparison, I don’t know how she’s comparing Spencer to Donald.”

The 55-year-old added, “There’s just no comparison. They’re two completely different people.” After that, he highlighted some of Pratt’s qualities that would serve him well as mayor. One of the most notable was that he feels Pratt will surround himself with the right people regarding policy.

According to him, “One of the things that impresses me most about what he’s talking about is the fact that he has admitted that he doesn’t know everything.” He called this “the sign of a great leader,” before calling out the “know-it-alls.”

Mauricio Confirmed His Political Party

Later in the interview, Umansky offered his views on the current state of politics following a discussion of the need for change. He stated, “One of the things that’s happening in our country, which is sad to me, is that there’s just too much republicans vs democrats.”

Umansky described “a place in the middle” to improve the world, saying, “some things should be more republican, and some things should be more democratic.” After that, he confirmed that he’s a registered independent, leaning “much more republican” on fiscal issues. However, despite leaning more liberal for some causes, he’s not “into this whole woke thing that’s going on.”

Kyle Richards Recently Gave An Update On Her Status With Mauricio

Umansky and his “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star wife, Richards, split in July 2023 after 27 years of marriage. However, years later, the two remain married and on good terms. He’s also continued to make a few appearances on the show.

Recently, during the “RHOBH” season 15 reunion, Richards gave an update on the prospect of divorcing. Specifically, she was asked if she was waiting for him to want to reconcile.

Richards responded, “No, I think it’s just not knowing what you want, and I like the way it is.” She then discussed their family vacations as an example, noting, “The way we can have dinner, and he goes to his room, I go to my room. We wake up, have coffee in the morning, talk about what we’re gonna do, we go skiing.”

Richards went on to say that she fears divorcing Umansky would change their ability to take family vacations. Additionally, she answered a question about how they’d split the real estate agency he runs, saying, “Well, it’s mine. Half of it’s mine.”

Mauricio Was Recently Spotted With A New Woman

According to TMZ, Umansky was seen with a mystery woman at Chateau Marmont in Hollywood in February of this year. Later, the following month, the outlet spoke to him as he left what appeared to be a restaurant.

When asked if he was “dating anyone,” Umansky said, “No, I’m not.” He then stated, “I’m a happy man,” after being asked if he was “looking for anyone.”
