Spencer Pratt announced his candidacy for Mayor of Los Angeles in January. Since then, he’s gained considerable ground as well as support from some of his fellow reality stars. However, actress and former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Rinna shared her opposing thoughts while on the 2026 American Music Awards red carpet.
This comes days after legendary comedian and actor Drew Carey called out the former “Hills” star in a fiery social media post.
Lisa Rinna Isn’t A Fan Of Reality Stars In Politics

Rinna interviewed with Variety while on the red carpet at the 52nd American Music Awards. The conversation began with the reporter noting that the “RHOBH” alum is “very political.” She responded, “I am. That’s true.”
After that, Rinna was asked about the Los Angeles mayoral race and who should lead the city next. She said, “That is a good question. I’m gonna say I don’t know yet.” However, despite being unsure of who could potentially succeed the current mayor, Karen Bass, she knew what career history should disqualify candidates.
According to her, “Not a reality star, though. I’m sorry. I love him, but we’ve already done that. We’re not gonna do that again.”
The ‘RHOBH’ Alum Says Spencer Pratt Could Win

Rinna was then asked whether she believed Pratt had a “good chance” of becoming the next mayor of LA. She said, “He could be. I mean, he’s got power behind him, it seems, but I don’t know.” After that, the reporter asked for her opinion on why “so many Hollywood people on the west side are into Spencer Pratt being mayor.”
Without missing a beat, the “Housewives” alum stated, “You got me. ‘Cause listen, I’m a reality person. You wouldn’t want me as mayor.” She then reiterated that she has no hard feelings for Pratt, saying, “I love him, I think he’s amazing. I just think we did that. Let’s have someone that’s already been mayor.”
Social Media Users Are Mixed On Lisa Rinna’s Spencer Pratt Take

Following Rinna’s honest yet respectful comments about Pratt and his run for Mayor of Los Angeles, social media users began weighing in. Overall, many seem to disagree with “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” fan-favorite.
First, someone on X agreed with Rinna’s comment about Pratt. They wrote, “Thank goodness she has some sense.” However, a different user claimed, “She is correct. I would not want her as mayor.”
After that, a different person weighed in, writing, “Celebrities are so ignorant it’s insane. Karen Bass has literally destroyed their city, and they want more of it.”
Then, another social media user replied to criticism of the current mayor. They said, “Then pick somebody else, but if you’re going to put a reality star as your mayor, you’re dumb y’all need to stop with this mess y’all get upset and want to put somebody with no experience as your mayor instead of actually doing your research and picking somebody better. Shame on you.”
Lastly, another social media user pleaded, “Please vote for qualified candidates.”
The Outspoken ‘RHOBH’ Star Recently Released A Book

Rinna released her latest book, a memoir, “You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It,” in February 2026. The book, which Dey Street published, went on to become a New York Times bestseller, making it her second to do so.
Ahead of the book, she opened up to PEOPLE about the process of telling her story. Rinna said, “I don’t know if everyone is ready for all of the truth I am unloading in this book. But I was certainly ready to tell it.”
She continued, “Life comes with a lot of ups and downs, and so much of it gets lost ‘in the editing,’ if you will. It was time to share the director’s cut. I put so much of myself into this book; the good, the bad, and the wackadoodle. It feels really good to see it finally come together.”
Lisa Rinna Is Also In A New Movie

In addition to weighing in on Pratt and his mayoral chances, Rinna is still acting, both on the big and small screens. First, she guest-starred in an episode of Netflix’s sports comedy “Running Point,” which premiered in April 2026.
Additionally, she’s one of many celebrities who will appear in “Stop! That! Train!,” the first feature film from the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” universe. The movie will arrive in movie theaters on June 12.
