A political fight involving cookies, celebrity families, and wildfire frustrations has suddenly turned into one of Los Angeles’ strangest viral stories.
Jimmy Kimmel’s family is now facing online backlash after accusations surfaced over complaints tied to Spencer Pratt-themed cookies sold at a local grocery store.
As the mayoral race heats up, the controversy has exploded far beyond a simple bakery disagreement.
Spencer Pratt Cookies Spark Unexpected Backlash
The drama reportedly began inside Vicente Foods, a longtime grocery store located in Brentwood, one of Los Angeles’ wealthiest neighborhoods.
Bakery owner Danielle told the Daily Mail she created cookies supporting Spencer Pratt’s mayoral campaign because his criticism of the city’s wildfire response deeply resonated with her. Danielle explained that she personally lost everything during the Palisades fires and felt Pratt understood the pain many residents experienced.
“I lost everything in the fires,” Danielle said. “So, I sold the cookies to show my appreciation for what he is doing.”
Pratt himself also suffered devastating losses after his $3 million mansion burned down during the fires. Danielle said that experience made her support his campaign even more strongly because he “stepped up for the community when we needed him.”
Pratt Cookie Display Sparks Complaint Drama
According to Danielle, the bakery initially had no problems displaying the cookies publicly inside the store.
“At first the store was supportive of me selling the cookies,” she explained.
But the situation allegedly changed after a complaint was made about the display.
She shared, “But I was just told we had to take them down after a complaint… we were told to make them not visible anymore.”
The controversy quickly moved from a neighborhood bakery issue into a viral online argument involving politics, celebrities, and freedom of expression.
Jimmy Kimmel Family Suddenly Pulled Into The Drama
The situation escalated after celebrity fashion boutique Kitson claimed it learned the alleged complaint came from Carly Kimmel, the wife of Jimmy Kimmel’s brother, Jonathan Kimmel.
Jonathan has worked on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show for years, which immediately dragged the comedian’s family into the growing backlash online.
Kitson claimed it received information from a “reliable source” identifying Carly Kimmel as the person behind the complaint about the cookies. However, Vicente Foods reportedly told the Daily Mail that nobody directly informed them Carly personally made the complaint.
Even so, the accusations spread rapidly online after Kitson posted strong comments criticizing the alleged situation.
“Attacking a small business seems to run in the family,” the boutique wrote in an Instagram post.
The store then referenced legal cases involving bakeries and public expression, adding, “It’s worth noting that the last two cases involving bakeries and freedom of speech ended with the bakeries winning in the Supreme Court. Go on Carly’s Instagram and tell her how you feel.”
As social media users reacted to the allegations, reports claimed Carly Kimmel later hid her Instagram account after receiving backlash online.
Spencer Pratt Supporters Rally Around The Bakery
Once the story began circulating online, many people rushed to defend the bakery and its owner.
Several commenters encouraged residents to support the business specifically because of the controversy surrounding the cookie display.
“I encourage everyone to go buy something from the bakery to show your support for this small business owner!” one supporter wrote online.
Another customer defended the store while praising the cookies themselves.
They wrote, “Vicente Foods has been my go to store for 40 years. I even bought those awesome cookies weeks ago when they first came out.”
A resident from the Palisades also revealed that multiple friends visited the bakery after hearing about the accusations and “confirmed the story after speaking with the baker.”
Spencer Pratt Campaign Gains Momentum In Los Angeles

The cookie controversy arrives during a crucial moment in Spencer Pratt’s mayoral campaign.
The former reality television star initially entered the race as an unlikely candidate when he launched his campaign earlier this year. Many critics believed his conservative positions would struggle to connect with Los Angeles voters.
However, recent weeks have reportedly shifted the race dramatically.
Pratt is running against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and City Councilmember Nithya Raman ahead of the June 2 election. Polling has reportedly shown him gaining ground quickly and trailing only narrowly behind Bass.
Part of that momentum came after Pratt delivered a heated debate performance earlier this month that immediately went viral online.
During the debate, Pratt attacked Bass over the city’s handling of the devastating fires and accused the mayor of burning his house down.
NBC polling reportedly found that 79% of viewers believed Pratt won the debate, while the Los Angeles Times declared him the “winner.”
