Kansas City Chiefs star Rashee Rice is back in the spotlight for all of the wrong reasons. According to several new reports, the NFL player has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for allegedly violating his probation terms that stem from his role in a highway crash in Dallas, Texas, that left several people severely injured. The news of Rice’s latest legal woes comes a little over a year after his mother was ordered to complete a theft intervention program after allegedly stealing a package from a neighbor’s front door.
Kansas City Chiefs Star Rashee Rice Sentenced To 30 Days In Jail After Testing Positive For Drugs
A judge sentenced Rice to a month in jail after testing positive for marijuana, according to ESPN. Testing positive for the drug is a direct violation of the athlete’s probation terms that were set in place after he was involved in a dangerous highway crash two years ago.
“Mr. Rice was taken into custody today in the 194th Judicial District Court for testing positive for THC and ordered to serve the 30 days that he had previously been ordered to serve at a later time — starting today,” the Dallas County DA’s office shared in a recent statement.
Rice made headlines back in March 2024 after reportedly driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV at 119 MPH on a Dallas highway, resulting in a multicar crash that injured several people. According to the original report, Rice failed to check on the injured individuals and rather fleed the scene on foot before law enforcement showed up.
NFL Fans Are Roasting Rashee Rice After The Chiefs Player Receives A Month-Long Jail Sentence

Rice took accountability for the accident weeks after the crash, apologizing and later turning himself in to the authorities. As part of the agreement, Rice received deferred adjudication and would’ve had the charges dropped had he successfully completed probation and the other requirements.
The news of his probation violation has caused a bit of frustration amongst NFL fans, many of whom are blasting the wide receiver on Reddit for his “generationally stupid” ways.
“What an idiot,” a user wrote. “Not judging him for smoking weed, but if your freedom and livelihood are at stake, lay off the sh-t.”
“When you’re on probation, and one of the requirements of your probation is to not smoke weed, then don’t f-cking smoke weed, dude,” another said.
A fourth user chimed in, writing, “Doesn’t matter if it’s just weed. Shows that he’s a dumb-ss who makes extremely poor life choices and hasn’t learned his lesson on acting right.”
Rashee Rice’s Mother Was Caught On Camera Allegedly Stealing Her Neighbor’s Package
This isn’t the first time that Rice’s name has been linked to a legal issue. According to TMZ, his mother, Marsha Kearney, was charged with package theft nearly two years ago.
Videos obtained by the outlet show the athlete’s mother allegedly stealing a package from her neighbor’s doorstep.
And if there was any doubt about whether that was actually Rice’s parent, Kearney was spotted in the video wearing a “Momma-Rice” Kansas City Chiefs jersey.
The case was officially dismissed in December 2024 after she agreed to complete a theft intervention program, community service, and pay a $125 fine.
Before that, Kearney was accused of stealing numerous items from a man, including food, drinking containers, household products, and clothing, per TMZ.
Another NFL Player Is In The Hot Seat
Rice isn’t the only NFL player with a negative light cast on him right now. According to a previous report from The Blast, Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua could be the subject of a civil lawsuit filed by a woman named Madison Atiabi.
Legal documents claim that Nacua bit Atiabi during a night out in December 2025 after becoming too “touchy-feely.” The documents also alleged that Nacua “dropped his head” into her private area and “bit her thumb so forcefully” that she screamed in pain.
Elsewhere in the filing, Nacua is said to have made problematic comments throughout the night, including “f-ck all the Jews.”
Cam Skattebo Offers Apology After Making Misinformed Comments About CTE And Asthma
Another report from The Blast details New York Giants player Cam Skattebo’s apology after calling CTE (a serious brain condition) “an excuse” and dismissing asthma as “fake.”
In an X post, the athlete said he had a serious “lapse in judgment” before offering an apology to those he “offended by my remarks.”
“I sincerely apologize … and I assure you that I’ll be more mindful and respectful going forward,” he wrote. “Much love!!!”
