Melania Trump was notably absent from Donald Trump’s recent trip to China, even as he was accompanied by his son, Eric Trump, and daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.
While no official explanation has been given for the First Lady’s absence, Lara’s inclusion on the trip has sparked speculation about possible tension between the two women.
Melania and Lara have both attended similar public events over the years, but reports suggest their relationship may be frosty behind the scenes.
Melania Trump’s China Absence Sparks Zodiac Theory
Ahead of Trump’s trip to China, the Office of the First Lady confirmed that Melania would not be accompanying him on the visit, despite having previously traveled to the Asian country in 2017.
In her place appeared to be Lara, whose exact role on the trip remains unclear, even after the president’s entourage returned to the U.S.
Now, astrology expert Tracy Higgs, who spoke to IBT, has suggested that the First Lady may have been “feeling quietly resentful” toward her daughter-in-law after staying behind in the U.S.
“Melania and Lara are two very different personalities when you look at them astrologically,” Higgs said.
She claimed that people with Melania’s star sign tend to prefer “stability, privacy, loyalty, and keeping control of the environment around them,” while those with Lara’s sign are typically “more social, diplomatic, and comfortable stepping into public roles.”
Astrologer Claims Melania And Lara May Have Private Tension
On several occasions, Melania and Lara have been seen together at the same events, with no visible signs of friction between them.
According to Higgs, this is not surprising, as both women’s star signs “dislike unnecessary confrontation.”
However, she suggested that tension could still exist behind the scenes, particularly around “position, image, and influence.”
“Taurus can become territorial, especially when they feel something important to them is being quietly replaced or overlooked,” Higgs said, adding that Libras can “unintentionally step into spaces that emotionally belong to someone else without fully realizing the impact.”
Reader Says Melania Trump May Avoid Confronting Lara

Speaking on Melania’s alleged resentment toward Lara for seemingly taking her place on the China trip, Higgs claimed there is unlikely to be any confrontation between the two over the matter.
The star-sign reader argued that Melania’s Taurus personality traits make her more likely to internalize her emotions rather than openly express frustration. According to her, Taurus individuals often prefer withdrawal over confrontation, especially when emotionally hurt.
“She is not someone who would likely react in an openly hostile way,” Higgs explained, adding that there may instead be a subtle feeling of “that should have been my place.”
The astrologer further claimed that rather than creating public drama, Melania would be more inclined to emotionally distance herself from the situation.
Lara Accused Of Copying Melania’s Style

Online, users had a variety of reactions to seeing Lara on the trip to China instead of Melania.
Many accused the political figure of copying Melania’s style, with some even going so far as to label Lara the “Temu” version of the First Lady.
The comments appeared to reference Lara’s oversized sunglasses, which were similar to the style Melania is often seen wearing during public appearances.
Others directly questioned why Lara was brought along on the trip despite Melania’s absence.
“She should be home with her kids. Since when does the whole staff travel with the president? Only the most important people would travel with them,” one individual said on X.
“They’re going to use her in negotiations. If Xi doesn’t agree with their terms, Lara will sing at them,” another user trolled.
Melania Trump Has Discussed Trump Family Dynamics

Melania has not publicly spoken about her relationship with Lara, but she has previously addressed her connection to her husband’s children.
“Stepping into a marriage with Donald, I found myself navigating the intricate dynamics of his big family,” FLOTUS wrote in her memoir, “Melania,” per Variety. “It demanded flexibility and openness, but each moment was a chance to connect, learn, and grow in this new environment.”
According to the Slovenian-born former model, her bond with Trump’s children has always been rooted in respecting their individuality rather than trying to replace their mothers.
“I recognize their individuality, understanding that, as their stepmother, my role is not to replace their mothers but to nurture a supportive and amicable connection,” she said.
