Joseph Duggar is fighting for a change to some restrictions in his case!

The former American reality television personality has approached the court to grant him access to his kids as he continues to battle allegations of molesting a minor six years ago.

Joseph Duggar became the second Duggar brother to be apprehended based on child sexual abuse charges within the last seven years, with Josh Duggar expected to be released in 2033.

Joseph Duggar Can’t Have Unsupervised Visits With His Kids

The former TLC personality has filed new legal documents asking that the court make some changes to his no-contact order, which would give him the chance to see his own biological children. 

Joseph was barred from having any unsupervised contact with minors as a condition of his ongoing child molestation case. As noted by TMZ, the reality star is currently out of police custody on bond as the case continues to advance through various legal phases.

The reality star was arrested in March on allegations of lewd and lascivious behavior, which involved unlawful sexual activity with a minor, due to revelations from a 14-year-old.

The 31-Year-Old’s Defense Team Demanded To Vet Files Related To His Case

Earlier in the month, the TV star’s attorney forwarded a petition to a Florida court for permission to investigate some investigators who had contact with the teenager who accused him.

As stated by The Blast, the request was forwarded on Friday, March 1, where they sought a subpoena that would activate a disclosure of every data collected during the first phase of the child abuse investigation.

The filing from Joseph’s defense team planned to extract information from several agencies, like the Department of Children & Families and the Child Protection Team, who spoke with the alleged victim before Joseph was arrested.

The reality star’s defense team also moved forward to interrogate any law enforcement officers or protective services agencies involved across state lines in Arkansas.

Joseph’s defense maintained that the witness testimony alongside other related records is important to ensure a fair trial and properly determine the reality star’s guilt or innocence.

Joseph Duggar’s In-laws Reportedly Played A Role In His Arrest

The former TLC personality’s wife, Kendra Caldwell, was picked up shortly after her husband was arrested.

She was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, although there are claims that her arrest was not related to her husband’s alleged crimes.

However, The Blast noted that a Christian influencer, Amy Paul, brought a new perspective to the child molestation case, claiming that it is Kendra’s family who turned him over to the police.

Paul continued that the Duggars have now embarked on retaliating against Kendra’s family, adding that she was worried about the lack of Christian charity that is being shown to the Caldwell family.

According to her, turning Joseph in was not an easy decision, but they had to because he was not ready to take responsibility for himself.

Kendra’s family initially broke their silence on Joseph’s arrest, expressing that the allegations left them heartbroken, but they would throw all their weight behind Kendra.

The Reality Star’s Marriage Reportedly Hanging By A Thread

With the accusations surrounding Joseph growing in intensity, the couple has been brought under scrutiny, leading many to believe their marriage is on the verge of falling apart.

Last month, The Blast noted that Deanna Duggar, the estranged sister of patriarch of the Duggar clan Jim Bob Duggar, publicly pleaded with Kendra to consider breaking up.

Deanna reportedly told Kendra that she deserves a chance at rebuilding her life after the constant scandal and that divorce might be the best option. She said that Kendra should get a new lease on life and move on from the situation. 

Although she had drifted away from the family over the years, Deanna insisted that Joseph, Kendra, and the rest of the family all remain in her prayers and that, after all, accountability is still important.

Kendra has not yet made any statements to the public regarding her marriage’s possible future. But the couple’s legal predicament has reportedly left them physically separated, with her remaining out of the public eye in the midst of escalating legal drama.

Joseph Duggar’s In-laws Hit With Housing Challenges

Tensions rose between the Duggar family and the Caldwells following his arrest, as sources close to the families noted that the Caldwells had to move out of their home.

This prompted Kendra’s family to launch a GoFundMe in early April to assist with settling down in a new home. 

Kendra’s dad then updated the public on the situation, stating on the fundraiser page that their stance towards Joseph’s arrest and allegations ultimately cost them their home and source of livelihood.

Joseph’s father-in-law thanked everyone who had been supporting and helping the family through the challenging time, and also addressed some criticism of the fundraiser.

He emphasized that the fundraiser was never meant to help anyone accused of offenses against a child, seemingly distinguishing between the Caldwells and the legal problems that Joseph has. 

“We are willing to stand for the protection of the weak and vulnerable in society. Because of that stand, we have been put in a situation that has [caused] the [loss] of our current housing situation and employment, having to relocate on such short notice has left us in a bit of [a] financial struggle,” Paul Caldwell concluded.
