As Joseph Duggar‘s legal crisis deepens, the fallout is dragging his wife, Kendra Duggar‘s family into the chaos.

In the weeks since Joseph’s arrest, tensions between the Duggars and their in-laws have intensified, with sources claiming the situation became so strained that Kendra’s relatives were pushed off their property.

Seeking support, the Caldwells launched a GoFundMe in early April to assist with their move and have now shared an update.

On April 29, Kendra’s father, Paul Caldwell, addressed their situation on the fundraiser page, explaining how their stance on the case has affected their livelihood.

Paul began his message by expressing gratitude “to all those who have sacrificed to help and encourage” their family, while acknowledging critical comments, which he believes stem from misunderstandings about the fundraiser’s purpose.

He clarified that the donations were not meant to support anyone accused of harming a child, appearing to distance himself from his son-in-law’s legal battle.

“We are willing to stand for the protection of the weak and vulnerable in society,” Paul wrote, per US Weekly. “Because of that stand, we have been put in a situation that has [caused] the [loss] of our current housing situation and employment, having to relocate on such short notice has left us in a bit of [a] financial struggle.”

The update follows the family’s first public statement after news of Joseph’s arrest broke. In a message shared on social media, the Caldwells said they were “troubled and heartbroken” by the situation, while making their support for the alleged victim clear.

“We stand by her, both in support and prayer, and forever will. Our love for this child remains at the forefront of our family’s priorities and minds,” their statement read, per The Blast

“At the same time, we also recognize how traumatic this incident has been for our grandchildren as well and continue to pray for their strength,” it added.

Following Caldwell’s home crisis, Christian influencer Amy Paul shared a perspective suggesting the family reported Joseph to authorities, sparking alleged retaliation from the Duggars.

As The Blast reported, Paul criticized what she described as a lack of Christian compassion, alleging the Duggars forced their in-laws out of the home and had utilities like power and water shut off.

However, a source close to the former reality TV clan debunked those allegations, maintaining that the Duggars had been consistently generous toward the Caldwells.

According to the insider, they were allowed to live rent-free on the property for years, well beyond the initial arrangement.

As tensions rise, Kendra is said to have chosen to stand firmly with her husband and his brood, a decision that has reportedly created a rift between her and her parents.

Per The Blast, one source questioned whether “fear or naiveté” influenced her stance, even suggesting she may be under strong influence from those around her.

Other sources noted that the situation has left the Caldwells feeling alone, as not many people are by their side, leaving them to navigate the fallout largely on their own.

Another insider noted that part of the reason the Caldwells relocated was to distance themselves from the Duggars. Christina and Paul are reportedly focused on protecting their family and feel the need to leave the area entirely to avoid constant encounters, given how closely connected the families are.

While the two families experience tension even as they await the outcome of Joseph’s case, legal experts have warned that Joseph’s past statements may have stamped his fate.

As The Blast reported, investigators allege that the dad of four confessed to misconduct on multiple occasions, including a confrontation with the victim’s father and a recorded call coordinated by law enforcement in which he acknowledged his “intentions were not pure.”

Former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani explained that such statements are “highly relevant and damaging” because they demonstrate intent.
