Spencer Pratt is addressing backlash after some people accused him of misleading the public about living in an airstream trailer. The reality TV star, who is running for the mayor of Los Angeles, has called out his opponents for living in lavish homes, while he claimed to live in a trailer parked on the lot where his Pacific Palisades home once stood.

However, it turned out Pratt has been living in a hotel, and now, he is addressing his critics, discussing his home situation and where he has been staying while campaigning for office.

Spencer Pratt Said He Doesn’t Have A Home

A large part of Spencer Pratt’s decision to run for the Mayor of Los Angeles was how the 2025 Palisades fire, in which he lost his home, was handled. In one ad campaign, the former reality star highlighted incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and city councilwoman Nithya Raman’s homes, comparing them to where he lived.

Pratt then showed an airstream trailer parked on a lot of his Pacific Palisades property, where his home once was before the fires. “This is where I live,” he stated. Weeks after the ad was released, reports came out that Pratt didn’t reside in the trailer as he said. Instead, he had reportedly been living at the Hotel Bel-Air, while his wife and children were staying north of L.A., as The Blast reported.

The mayoral candidate addressed the issue on “TMZ Live,” telling Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere, “I don’t have a house… I don’t live anywhere.”

Pratt told TMZ that the Pacific Palisades property is where he will live when he builds a new house, and the airstream and hotel accommodations are all temporary. “I don’t live in Bel-Air. I don’t live in the airstream… I don’t have a house. They burned it down. That is why I got into this race because of these people that will burn your house down and act like it’s no problem,” he explained.

Pratt also defended his hotel stay, saying that “psychopaths” are messaging him death threats. His security team advised him not to stay at the airstream for his safety. “There’s 360 unobstructed views since there’s no houses, so you can literally snipe me out from any part from 300 yards away easily,” he noted.

Levin and Latibeaudiere repeatedly asked where Pratt lived, with Latibeaudiere pointing out that part of why his ad campaign was so effective was that it showed his reality. “Everyone saw that ad and thought, ‘Wow, Spencer Pratt has to live in that trailer because his house burned down,'” he explained.

“Are you saying you live in that trailer?” Levin directly asked. “I don’t live anywhere, is what I’m saying. I don’t have a house. They burned it down,” Pratt replied. Levin then read a message from his phone from Pratt saying, “I have never told anyone I lived in it.” Levin then said that in the ad, he stood in front of the trailer and said, “This is where I live.”

Pratt explained that the point of the ad was to show “where they burned my house down.” “That is where I live. Period… I don’t need to sleep there every night.”

David Foster And Katharine McPhee Host Fundraiser For The Mayoral Candidate

L.A. residents David Foster and Katharine McPhee reportedly threw a fundraising event for Pratt at the backyard of their Brentwood Park home. A short video was shared on Instagram, in which Foster played the keyboard as McPhee sang Tina Turner’s “The Best,” switching the lyrics to say Pratt was better than his opponents, Bass and Raman.

Many have expressed support for Pratt, including his former “The Hills” co-stars Kristen Cavallari, Brody Jenner, and Audrina Patridge; Nick Viall, Olivia Culpo, James Woods, Adam Carolla, Jax Taylor, Whitney Leavitt, and Patti Stanger.

During his campaign, Pratt has repeatedly said that he does not represent any political party. Rather, he represents Los Angeles. On May 8, however, the former reality TV star said that his experience is similar to former President Barack Obama’s. “He was able to become a senator and then a president for eight years. So, I feel like him and I have the same experience,” Pratt said, per PEOPLE.

As the election nears, Pratt is confident that he can win. “I’m probably going to win with 51 percent on June 2, because I don’t do a political message,” he said, adding that his main focus is fixing Los Angeles.
