Meghan Markle’s rumored Hollywood comeback is already facing a brutal verdict.

Reports are rife that the Duchess of Sussex is set to return to the entertainment world, with claims that she has been tapped to star in a new movie and may also take part in a reality-TV-style renewal of her vows with Prince Harry.

However, the rumored project has already been labeled “dead on arrival” amid claims of the couple’s social decline and their ongoing strain with the royal family.

Meghan may soon return to screens, as rumors making the rounds suggest she has been offered a role in a major film project.

Talks of a vow renewal between the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry ahead of their eighth wedding anniversary on May 19 have also picked up steam, with reports suggesting it could feature in an unannounced reality TV project.

However, showbiz commentator Fran Winston told The Express that the project is “set to fail dismally,” arguing that it would not offer full access to the couple’s lives or their behind-the-scenes interactions.

The former “Suits” actress’s alleged strained ties with Hollywood elites, including Anna Wintour and the Kardashians, are among the key reasons Winston believes the unannounced project would struggle to perform.

Meghan was also branded “delusional” for allegedly believing people would be interested in watching her and Harry’s vow renewal without the presence of major celebrities.

Winston argued that this would be a far cry from the couple’s 2018 royal wedding, which unfolded in front of global figures and attracted massive public attention.

According to The Express, interest in Meghan and Harry’s relationship has waned, especially after the duchess described herself as the “most trolled person.”

Coupled with their alleged lack of close celebrity friends, Winston claimed the rumored project is already “dead in the water” before filming has even started.

Meghan Markle’s Rumored TV Project Slammed As ‘Tone-Deaf’

Meanwhile, critics have slammed Meghan’s rumored reality TV project as “tasteless and crass,” especially following the underwhelming performance of her Netflix shows, including “With Love, Meghan.”

“There is a growing feeling that this idea risks blurring the line between authenticity and performance,” a source told Radar Online. “A vow renewal is typically an intimate reaffirmation, but positioning it as the centerpiece of a reality-style project makes it feel more like a calculated production than a personal moment.”

Another source added, “Critics are already describing it as tone-deaf – the suggestion that something so private could be packaged in a format reminiscent of reality television has struck some as overly commercial and lacking in sensitivity.”

Meghan’s Reality TV Idea Was Inspired By Ellen DeGeneres

However, Meghan reportedly believes the concept could be a strategic opportunity for her to return to screens and revive the Hollywood career she left behind.

A source noted that, for the Duchess of Sussex, the project is not just about renewing her vows, but also about shaping how her story is told.

According to the news outlet, the idea was inspired by Ellen DeGeneres’s 2023 vow renewal with her wife, Portia de Rossi, which was officiated by Kris Jenner.

Meanwhile, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has suggested that Meghan and Harry are heading down very different professional paths, despite remaining in love.

The Duke of Sussex is reportedly looking to reconnect with his family across the pond and is expected to travel to the U.K. in July for an Invictus Games event. Meghan, however, is said to be increasingly focused on staying in Hollywood to pursue a commercial career.

“Harry has always seen himself as more than just having a walk-on role in her cookery program,” Fitzwilliams said, referring to the duke’s recent trip to Ukraine, where he called on Donald Trump to “show leadership” amid the country’s war with Russia, per The Express.

Fitzwilliams noted that the couple still appears to be very much in love, saying there is “no sign their relationship is failing.” However, he added that “they are most definitely on diverging paths and want different things.”
