Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to have been left disappointed by King Charles for doing nothing to address Donald Trump‘s comments against them during a recent state visit.

The monarch visited the US for his first state visit and was seen in pictures being chummy with the president, who has in the past made several distasteful comments against the Sussexes.

Reports have now claimed that Prince Harry can’t move past the fact that his father didn’t defend him, a stance which his wife, Meghan Markle, also appears to share.

King Charles’ visit to the US has come and gone, and while it seems to have been a win for the UK’s economy, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, reportedly have some issues with the monarch’s behavior during the trip.

According to reports, Harry in particular couldn’t get past the idea that his father made no moves to defend him during the trip, despite the fact that Trump seemingly “made it his mission to discredit and tear them down,” even days before the royal tour.

Meghan is also said to share the same sentiment as her husband, with the added worry that Trump might have said even more disparaging remarks about them to Charles during the visit.

“For Meghan, it beggars belief that Charles is allowing this bile and slander from Trump go unanswered or defended. They’re just praying it doesn’t spiral out of hand if Trump gets a chance to run them down to Charles one-on-one,” a source told Closer.

During the visit, Charles appeared chummy with Trump, a connection which the source claimed proved that the monarch “seems to have quite a fondness” for the US commander-in-chief.

The insider also claimed that watching this all happen was tough for Harry, especially given how Trump had in the past threatened their status in the country.

Even more, it hurt that his father seemed to be giving Trump more attention, something further cemented by the fact that the monarch made no move to visit them throughout his stay in the US.

However, he doesn’t intend to react so as not to further upset the already tense situation with his father, but this stance of silence isn’t supported by Meghan.

“Harry is biting his tongue because he knows reacting will only stir up more trouble, but it’s been very difficult, especially because Meghan does not want to give Charles a pass on this,” the source continued.

Prince Harry Believes A Reaction Could Jeopardize His Reconciliation Plans

As to why Meghan reportedly seems hell-bent on Harry reacting, the source claimed it is down to her belief that it “sends the wrong message if they let this go unchallenged.”

She feels it is “exactly the kind of situation where Harry should be standing his ground” and is finding it hard to come to terms with why he has yet to do so.

On Harry’s part, he allegedly believes reacting will only “jeopardize their long-term goal of rebuilding their relationship with his family,” and he would rather keep his eyes on the bigger picture.

“Emotions are running very high, but so far Harry’s managed to keep a lid on everything,” the source added about Harry and Meghan’s alleged disagreement. “He seems determined not to let this derail the fragile progress he’s made, even if it means swallowing his pride and riding out a situation that clearly isn’t sitting well with either of them.”

But even while choosing a path of silence, Harry still has fears about his plans for reconciliation.

With no meeting with his father, and the monarch spending so much time with Trump during the visit, there is a belief the president could “torpedo everything” Harry has worked for, which makes the current situation “so delicate right now.”

According to the source, Harry now fears it “could prompt his father to side with William and others – right when they’re making progress and finally rebuilding bridges with key members of the Firm.”

Despite his concerns, the duke is reportedly “doing his best to stay pragmatic.” He is also said to have taken the approach of pointing inquirers to the fact that Charles’ meeting with Trump is simply part of his father’s role as king.

Prince Harry Stunned The Palace With His Claim About Being A Royal

Harry caused a stir in the palace during his recent unannounced trip to Ukraine when he pushed back on claims that he is “not a working royal.”

While speaking to ITV, the duke insisted that he “will always be part of the royal family,” noting that he is only doing the work he believes he was “born to do.”

Harry’s bold statement reportedly stunned many behind the scenes, especially due to the palace’s firm stance against the half-in-half-out deal, which the prince and his wife wanted before eventually fully stepping down as senior royals.

Reacting to the duke’s recent claim, author Sally Bedell Smith told People Magazine, “They are pushing the envelope and making it much more difficult for reconciliation to happen.”
