Renee Zellweger and Ant Anstead have a multi-million dollar lawsuit looming over their heads.

The couple got entangled in the legal drama over an alleged injury that occurred in the TV presenter’s rental home. The plaintiff has also stretched the suit to involve the homeowner, Glenn Wilson, claiming that the trio should bear the brunt of the discomfort stemming from the alleged incident.

Renee Zellweger and Ant Anstead are no strangers to legal battles, having faced a handful in their careers. The couple, who have been together since 2021, are determined to face this lawsuit head-on when their jury trial comes next month.

The couple has been dragged to court over an alleged injury that happened two years ago at Anstead’s rental home in Laguna Beach. The woman suing Zellweger and Anstead is looking for more than $10 million in damages to compensate for the agony she went through due to the injury.

The plaintiff, Tracey Belland, who was a guest at the rental home, has filed court documents seeking a hefty sum in the lawsuit naming the lovers and the owner of the rental home. Belland alleges that the millions will compensate for the medical expenses, her pain and suffering, as well as the emotional distress she suffered due to the alleged incident.

TMZ reported that she sustained the injury in early 2024 while visiting Anstead’s California rental. She detailed that she injured herself due to stepping on a thin rug that was covering a hole. Having allegedly stumbled over the uneven surface, Belland claims she injured her knee.

Wilson asked the judge to throw out the case, claiming that Belland filed for bankruptcy and failed to disclose the lawsuit, so she lacks legal standing to pursue it. This implies that, under the law, Belland was required to disclose all assets, including any existing or potential lawsuits or claims, because such lawsuits become part of the bankruptcy estate.

While a judge has yet to rule on Wilson’s request, he has also filed a cross-complaint against the famous couple in an attempt to wash his hands of the case. He argues that they should bear the total blame and cost for any money that may be awarded to the plaintiff.

A source familiar with the situation has disclosed that Wilson may not be the only one walking away from the suit. They shared that Zellweger never lived at the Laguna Beach rental but lived nearby on her own property. She is also not on the lease and therefore is not liable. The motor specialist also claims that he is not liable for the alleged injuries.

Zellweger starred in the 2017 Christian film “Same Kind of Different as Me,” which was slammed with a labor lawsuit months before it hit the screens. The American Federation of Musicians filed the suit against Paramount Pictures, alleging that the studio lied about the scoring of the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the complaint, filed in California federal court in 2015, alleged that Paramount breached the terms of a collective bargaining agreement. The agreement requires that films produced in North America shall be scored there, and the AFM had previously issued a statement expressing that they were looking forward to scoring “Same Kind of Different as Me,” starring Zellweger.

AFM stated, per the legal docs, that it sought confirmation that the film would be scored in the United States in April 2015, but by the end of the month, a Paramount rep allegedly contacted AFM’s general counsel to say the film had already been scored. The AFM also said that only a portion of the film’s scoring was completed, and Paramount completed the scoring in Slovakia.

Two years ago, the motor specialist was faced with several lawsuits where clients claimed they paid his company, Radford Motors, deposits for custom cars but never received them or their money back. A potential customer, Timothy Tasker, filed a complaint in May 2024 alleging that he paid the company a $101,000 deposit for one of the limited-edition Lotus-Radford Type 62-2 models.

Tasker alleged that he paid the deposit in May 2022, and after meeting with Anstead and his co-founder, Jenson Button, he was told that the finished cars would be delivered from the end of 2022 through 2023. PEOPLE report that in October 2023, Tasker perceived “a lack of progress” in the creation of the high-end vehicles and told Radford he wanted his money back.

He claimed that the supercar company “understood” his concerns and promised “a full refund,” but when he reached out, they left his emails and phone calls unanswered for months. Radford Motors was also slammed in a joint filing by Scott Katzman and Lamborghini Palm Beach, a luxury car dealership. They claimed that they both ordered a Radford-Lotus vehicle and made payments over $1 million, yet they did not receive the vehicles or a refund.

The loving couple came under the radar after their living situation became a hot topic last year. At the time, it had been rumored that the pair had rented a small home together, but the landlord confirmed that Zellweger’s name was not on the lease. A spokesperson for the car builder also confirmed that the home where the couple was rumored to be living together was solely rented by Anstead.

Later, an insider told news outlets that the lovers had been living apart for a year in separate rental houses close to each other. Anstead’s rep addressed the rumors, asking that the privacy of their relationship be maintained. The Blast reported that the rep confirmed that the pair were spending time apart due to their busy schedules and careers.

Reports made waves that Anstead was spotted spending the night at the home of divorcee Julia French in Laguna Beach. Many speculated that there was trouble in paradise or that the TV presenter and Zellweger had split up. “Sadly, the recent reports in the press are disrespectful and misleading,”  Anstead’s rep stressed before clarifying that the car designer and French were just friends.
