Erika Kirk was left shaken after a shooting disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, prompting the evacuation of high-profile attendees, including Donald Trump.
The suspect was subdued by Secret Service agents, and one officer survived being shot due to protective gear.
The incident comes amid recent security concerns surrounding Erika Kirk, who withdrew from a public event citing threats, and despite this, the widow continues to face intense scrutiny over her behavior.
Erika Kirk Hid Under A Table Before Leaving The White House Correspondents’ Dinner

The 37-year-old CEO of Turning Point USA could be seen in tears in a now-viral video as security rushed her out of the Washington Hilton, while repeatedly saying, “I just want to go home. I just want to go home.”
The incident comes months after the death of her husband, Charlie Kirk, who was killed at a speaking engagement in Utah in September.
According to People Magazine, an eyewitness revealed that Erika was one of the many guests who took cover under a table in the ballroom as the place descended into chaos. She was later said to have been consoled by the FBI director, Kash Patel.
Another eyewitness told the New York Post that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was escorted out by security while appearing disoriented and “delirious,” with aides supporting him as they moved him away from the venue. He had attended the event alongside his wife, actress Cheryl Hines.
The suspected gunman allegedly forced his way toward the ballroom, firing multiple shots near a security checkpoint. Authorities say the individual, identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, was armed with a shotgun and knives.
The Widow’s Tearful Exit Has Been Met With Negativity Online
Supporters of Erika have highlighted how her tearful exit from the event may have been spurred by the “trauma” she suffers, caused by the shooting of her husband Charlie and the fear of such an incident repeating itself.
Unfortunately, this hasn’t prevented critics of the TPUSA CEO from plaguing her with “cruel” remarks while analyzing and scrutinizing her actions, especially following a viral video where Erika was seen in tears, saying she wants to “go home.”
One critic noted, “She clearly sees someone recording and says that, so fake and phony. Only boomers gobble this slop up.”
Another wrote, “Oh, so they conveniently get this shot of her so they say ‘the grieving widow victim of a shooter had to go through this again.’ I’m so sick of the theater.”
However, several defended Erika from the narrative that she was being “fake,” stressing that her husband’s assassination is still a recent event.
A person wrote, “Erika Kirk should not have to relive something like this. So sorry that it happened again. God bless her and keep her.”
Another supporter wondered, “How have people become this [inhumane]. The sickness in this country is so much deeper than I ever imagined.”
One individual commented, “This genre of attacking a widow after her husband was brutalized in front of the entire world will never cease to amaze me. You people are sick.”
“I cannot imagine the trauma Erika Kirk is reliving right now,” a fourth person wrote. “It hasn’t even been a year since Charlie’s assassination. She has had to deal with it continuously amid all the crazy conspiracy theories and conspiracy theorists like Candace Owens. Now, she is subjected to another assassination attempt, this time with top White House officials, the President, and the VP in the room.”
Federal Charges Have Been Filed Against The Suspected Shooter

Panic spread quickly among the more than 2,000 attendees, including journalists and government figures, with many taking cover under tables as the situation unfolded. The suspect was subdued by Secret Service agents in the lobby.
During the confrontation, one agent was shot “from a very close distance with a very powerful gun” but survived due to protective gear and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Investigators later searched a California property believed to be linked to the suspect. Reports indicate he had worked for a tutoring company in Torrance and was previously recognized as “Teacher of the Month,” while the California Institute of Technology confirmed he graduated in 2017.
Officials believe he had been staying at the hotel. According to Jeanine Pirro, he now faces federal charges, including assault on a law enforcement officer, with more charges expected as the case proceeds.
Erika Kirk Skipped A Georgia Event With JD Vance Over Security Threats

Amid the chaos, attention has also remained on Erka, who has led Turning Point USA since her husband’s death. Speaking after his killing, she described him as a devoted husband and father and said she was still struggling to process the loss.
More recently, Erika withdrew from a Turning Point USA event in Athens, Georgia, where she was scheduled to appear with Vice President JD Vance, citing serious threats against her.
According to spokesperson Andrew Kolvet, the former beauty queen had received what he described as serious and credible threats, prompting her decision to stay away. Kolvet addressed attendees at the University of Georgia event, explaining her absence and stepping in to host in her place.
He criticized the situation, saying it is a “terrible reflection on the state of reality and the state of the country,” and alleging that some individuals had made” part-time jobs out of attacking Erika.”
Vance acknowledged he was aware of the situation and initially feared the event might be canceled. However, after discussions with the Secret Service, he chose to proceed. He said he supported Erika’s decision to prioritize her safety and family while allowing the event to continue.
JD Vance Defends Erika Kirk, Condemns Backlash And ‘Disgusting’ Conspiracy Theories Amid Ongoing Threats

During his remarks, Vance also spoke about the “two separate living hells” Erika has faced since her husband’s death, pointing to both the trauma of the incident and the backlash she has experienced publicly.
He strongly condemned the criticism directed at her, calling it unfair and “one of the most disgraceful things that I’ve ever seen in public life.”
“The people telling you that Erika wasn’t grieving her husband are full of sh-t,” he added.
Vance also dismissed conspiracy theories suggesting Erika had any involvement in her husband’s killing, describing them as “so preposterous and so disgusting.”
He argued that attention “should have been, ‘Let’s go after left-wing violence and terrorism.” He went on to say that those directing blame or hostility toward Erika were misplacing their priorities, stressing that such behavior only adds to the problem rather than helping resolve it.
Meanwhile, Kolvet defended Erika’s decision to miss the event, emphasizing that she “has to live with this constant reality that her kids are one parent away from being orphans.”
“We take that extremely seriously,” he said.
