Sheinelle Jones‘s 48th birthday was a gloomy experience.
The American journalist turned a year older on April 19, but the heavy feeling of the loss of her husband, almost a year ago, overshadowed the joy of the occasion after her husband died from brain cancer last year.
Sheinelle Jones has been pretty busy on a nationwide tour to promote her latest memoir following her return from a nine-month break in September 2025.
Inside Sheinelle Jones Touching Birthday Post

The media personality celebrated her 48th birthday on Sunday for the first time in nearly 20 years without her husband, Uche Ojeh, who died last year.
Jones pictures for her birthday included several images with her fans during her book tour and another image of herself blowing out the gold candles on her pink birthday cake. She began the caption, expressing that her ride back home has been nothing short of emotional because the memories are pouring in torrents.
In her words: “Today is my 48th birthday, and to be honest, I can’t stop crying. Thankful tears, painful tears because it’s my first without Uche, and tears full of gratitude reflecting on the last 7 days. I have never felt so much love in my life. Thank you for the prayers and support over the last year.”
The journalist emphasized that words fail her at registering her excitement to see sold-out crowds in every city and taking pictures with her fans. Jones added that her late husband really loved the Beatles, and with a new age, the sun is beaming a new glow on her life.
The Media Personality’s Comment Section Was Filled With Uplifting Words

Jones’ day did not end without words of encouragement from her friends, fans, and loved ones who rushed to her comment section with warm birthday wishes and hearty cheers.
“You deserve all of the joy happiness. May God continue to fill your life with this gratitude, happiest of birthdays to you,” this commenter declared.
Another fan encouraged the media personality to keep fighting for her joy because seeing her healthy and happy has brought them relief. Jones earned her flowers from more Instagram users for making the world a better place with her talent and charm.
“You are such a ray of sunshine and a Blessing to us all. Thank you for sharing your heart, pain, and joy! Keep going, you got this!” another follower stated.
Sheinelle Jones And Her Late Husband Are The Perfect Love Birds

Jones and Ojeh had a beautiful love story for nearly two decades before he died after bravely fighting an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma. As noted by PEOPLE, the duo met for the first time ever at Northwestern University in the late 90s, with Jones as a freshman in college and Ojeh a budding high school senior on a campus tour.
The two eventually graduated one year apart with degrees in journalism and computer science, respectively. Jones and Ojeh dated long-distance for eight years before the latter popped the question right where they locked eyes for the first time. The love birds then got married in September 2007 in her hometown of Philadelphia, and they welcomed their first son two years later in 2009.
Jones and Ojeh became parents to fraternal twins three years later in 2012. Jones and Ojeh celebrated their 16th anniversary in 2023, with the media personality loving her husband out loud on Instagram with an adorable trip down memory lane.
The 48-Year-Old’s On-Air Colleagues Empathized With Her Loss

Jones was not left alone in her grief as she received immense support from her “Today” co-anchors Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Carson Daly, Dylan Dreyer, and Jenna Bush Hager. As shared by Hello Magazine, the co-anchors rallied around the studio to give an update on the tragic passing of the journalist’s partner.
Guthrie acknowledged that the pain Sheinelle and her young children were going through was nothing short of tragic. The anchor added that Ojeh was an incredible person who was loved by everyone on the team, while sending their love and support to the rest of his family.
Melvin added, “He loved those kids more than anything else in this world, and was just so proud,” added Craig. “He was that dad that was on the sideline of every soccer game. He was at all of the concerts and the recitals. He was that guy.”
Sheinelle Jones’ New Memoir Got A Few Adjustments Due To Her Late Husband’s Sickness

The 48-year-old shared her thoughts about the release of her first book, “Through Mom’s Eyes: Simple Wisdom from Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans,” and how Ojeh’s sickness changed a lot of things behind the scenes.
She stated that the book served as a therapy she did not know she needed, and most importantly, it served as a love letter to the women who have sacrificed a lot for the growth of womanhood. As noted by PEOPLE, Jones’ memoir was slated for release last spring until her husband’s health declined and she had to shelve it to focus on her family.
She revealed that she even reworked the beginning and end of the book while her husband battled brain cancer, and she remained very protective of him by not talking about his health woes. Jones stated that readers will also get to see glimpses of her experiences during her husband’s sickness and how he encouraged her to keep working despite his sickness.
Wishing Sheinelle Jones a wonderful 48th year!
