Reports have emerged claiming D4vd‘s arrest was driven by frustration within the LAPD over delays from the District Attorney’s office to charge him with murder.
Since September last year, the singer has been linked to the death of a minor, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was found in the trunk of his Tesla after being missing for weeks.
D4vd is currently being held without bail and is expected to have his first court hearing on Monday, April 20, which will determine whether he is released or charged with murder.
The LAPD Reportedly Made The Arrest To Force The DA’s Office To Charge D4vd

D4vd’s arrest on Thursday, April 16, came as no surprise, as he has been the main suspect linked to the death of a minor, Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
However, the circumstances behind his arrest are being described as unusual, according to Mark Geragos, co-host of the “2 Angry Men” podcast.
On the podcast, Geragos told Harvey Levin that insiders within the District Attorney’s office revealed they were not yet ready to bring charges against the singer, despite several months having passed since Hernandez was found.
He claimed they wanted more time to get things in order, but the LAPD had grown increasingly “frustrated” with the delay, especially as no other key suspect had emerged in recent months.
With the DA unwilling to move forward with charges, the LAPD reportedly decided to arrest D4vd in hopes of forcing the DA’s hand to finally act.
The DA’s Office Are Trying To Figure Out Their Next Steps Amid Expectations To File Charges

According to Geragos, the police action left the DA’s office scrambling to determine its next steps, as remaining silent could deal a heavy blow to its credibility.
The option of doing nothing also appears to have been taken out of their hands, given the LAPD’s show of force during the arrest and the media attention it generated.
They are now expected to file charges on Monday, and if they do not, D4vd would have to be released, as his detention would exceed the maximum number of days a suspect can be held without being charged.
The DA’s Office Released A Statement Acknowledging Dv4d’s Arrest

For now, the District Attorney’s office has only released a statement suggesting they were aware of the LAPD’s actions.
They also stressed that they aren’t aware of any conflict with the LAPD, claiming the case has been undergoing normal procedure.
“Our office has worked in close coordination with LAPD on this case, sharing resources and information,” the DA’s office told TMZ.
They added, “We have no knowledge of any conflict, as this case has gone through the normal process any case would go through.”
The Victim’s Family Plans To Make A Public Statement If D4vd Is Charged

If the DA proceeds with filing charges against D4vd, they are expected to have the backing of the victim’s family.
According to TMZ, the family intends to release a statement through their attorney once the DA makes its move.
It would mark the first time the family has publicly commented on the death of Hernandez since her body was discovered in D4vd’s trunk.
The family also intends not to remain behind the scenes as the proceedings continue. For instance, they reportedly plan to be present at a potential press conference the Los Angeles County District Attorney may hold to announce its plans for the case.
They are also keen on making an appearance in court whenever D4vd is arraigned for the alleged crime.
D4vd’s Parents Are Backing Their Son Amid His Legal Issues

Meanwhile, D4vd is expected to have the support of his parents if he is charged with murder next week.
The singer, whose real name is David Burke, is the son of Dawud Burke and Colleen Burke, who, like the victim’s family, have largely kept silent about the situation involving their son.
However, they are said to be upset and saddened for him, though not surprised that authorities made the move to arrest him.
As part of their support, they have declined to testify before a grand jury and reportedly have no intention of doing so unless they are subpoenaed.
“If the D.A. needs parents to testify, then they have no case. In my opinion, they’re just doing that for harassment purposes. If a proper subpoena was issued, they would’ve already spoken,” said Kent Schaffer, the Texas-based attorney representing D4vd’s parents.
