Dak Prescott and his ex-fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, managed to avoid a courtroom clash at the last minute after reaching a temporary custody agreement for their two daughters. The former couple, who previously called off their destination wedding just weeks before it was set to take place, entered into an informal settlement on Monday, just days before they were expected to face off in court. A Collin County, Texas judge signed off on the agreement Wednesday, narrowly sidestepping a scheduled hearing.

According to court documents obtained by Page Six, “The Court finds this order is in the best interest of the children,” though the full agreement itself has not been publicly filed and will only be submitted if enforcement becomes necessary.

Ramos’ attorney, Raymond Rafool, said his client is relieved the situation was handled privately. “Sarah Jane is very happy that she and Dak are able to make decisions for the parties’ girls and their family on their own,” he told Page Six. “She firmly believes that working together as parents is very important and will have long-term benefits for the girls. Sarah Jane continues to be dedicated to putting the girls’ best interests and lives first.”

The custody dispute began after Prescott filed a Suit Affecting the Parent-Child Relationship (SAPCR) on March 17, a legal move often used in Texas to establish parental rights, custody, and support arrangements between unmarried parents.

In his filing, Prescott argued that “it is in the best interest of the children” for both parents to “be appointed joint managing conservators” of their daughters, Margaret, 2, and Aurora, 10 months.

A court hearing was initially scheduled for April 2, but the pair informed the judge that they planned to resolve the matter outside of court.

Prescott and Ramos began dating in May 2023 and quickly built a life together. They welcomed their first daughter in February 2024, got engaged just eight months later, and then welcomed their second child in May 2025.

However, the relationship ultimately unraveled, with their planned April 10 wedding in Lake Como, Italy, being called off just weeks before the big day, leaving them both “heartbroken.”

“They love their girls, and they’re committed to raising their children together in the most loving and positive way,” a rep told PEOPLE at the time. “It’s still shocking for them since this happened so recently, and they ask for privacy while they sort everything out.”

The split has been surrounded by allegations regarding Prescott’s behavior during the relationship. A source previously claimed Ramos believed the Dallas Cowboys quarterback had ongoing communication with other women but remained hopeful he would change for the sake of their family.

The insider also alleged that Ramos issued an ultimatum in January, only to later discover Prescott was allegedly using incognito social media accounts to message other women. Despite the claims, Prescott’s attorney Levi G. McCathern II pushed back on the narrative.

“The decision to call off the wedding was mutual,” he said. “Unfortunately, when well-known people go through something personal, speculation tends to run wild, and the truth is often swept to the side. People should stop inventing stories and respect their privacy.”

Dak Prescott is reportedly doing well in the wake of his split, according to Brian Schottenheimer. The Dallas Cowboys head coach spoke to reporters about staying connected with players during the offseason, singling out Prescott as he navigates the aftermath of calling off his wedding.

“Dak and I have had a ton of conversations,” Schottenheimer said, per The Dallas Morning News. “He’s in a really good spot, obviously with what he’s dealing with is incredibly tough. But if anyone can handle it, he can.”

Schottenheimer also told reporters, “I try to talk to all the guys…I reach out to most of them. I actually got a plan. I’m a little bit, a little I guess obsessive, compulsive in that regard in trying to reach out to position groups to check in.”
