Assault and legal cases seem to be going hand in hand with “The Bachelorette” stars.
A former star, James McCoy Taylor, has been arrested yet again on charges of assault, bringing him back into the spotlight. This marks his second assault arrest since his appearance on the hit show, but he also has a series of other legal woes tied to his name.
Before James McCoy Taylor’s arrest, Taylor Frankie Paul’s season on “The Bachelorette” got cancelled after her history of an assault incident resurfaced. The star was involved in a domestic assault case with her ex-lover, which stretched into attempts to cause him bodily harm.
‘The Bachelorette’ Makes Headlines Again Over Assault
The former hit TV show star is in the spotlight again, and this time it seems history is repeating itself. Taylor was reportedly taken into custody on Friday, March 20, 2026, on new assault charges. The reports show that he was arrested for causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint.
According to the online court records, the warrant for Taylor’s arrest came from Texas and is connected to an incident that allegedly took place about two years ago. More details are yet to unfold about the April 2024 incident as the country singer has yet to comment on the situation.
TMZ has also made attempts to gather more information on the case from the police, but a response is still pending. However, Taylor was not held in custody for long; he was released that same Friday on a $10,000 surety bond.
Inside The Country Singer’s Previous Assault Ordeal
In 2023, the TV star was arrested on the same charges but in connection with a 19-year-old college student. Police reported that he groped and forcibly kissed the lady, threw her to the ground, and tried to stop her from leaving his bedroom.
The Blinn College student whom he met at a Northgate bar followed him home to his condominium on W. 22nd Street in Bryan. Reportedly, they shared a kiss, but she got uncomfortable and asked to leave. Upon withdrawing her consent for any further intimate activities, things went south. She later told police men that Taylor’s demeanor became “very serious and intense,” and he “got a look on his face that frightened her.”
The 19-year-old went to the restroom to reach out to a friend, who then booked an Uber for her. When she returned to the room, she met the country singer in the nude, lying in bed. After asking him to get dressed and attempting to leave the room, he allegedly slammed the front door shut, forcibly kissed her, and threw her to the ground before she was able to escape.
Ultimately, the one-time reality TV star pled guilty in 2025 and was sentenced to 80 hours of community service, anger management classes, $1,000 in fines and court costs, and ordered to have no contact with the victim. Taylor was also banned from Texas’s Northgate Entertainment District. He seems to have moved on with his life since then, as he lives with his current partner, Kenzie Linden, in Colorado, raising five little girls together.
James McCoy Taylor Previously Denied The Allegations
After the TV star was arrested on August 4 2024, he released a statement denying the allegations, the college student raised against him. In refuting the claims, Taylor noted that if he had made any attempts to restrain the girl unlawfully, she would have gotten injuries that would have gone viral on the internet. He maintained that it was all “enjoyable and consensual.”
According to news outlets, the Bryan police force interviewed the lady after she brought the claims to their attention. They found several contusions on her hip and buttocks, along with text messages between the accuser and her friend.
“Please come get me,” “I’m not ok,” “He’s forcing himself on me,” some of the texts read. The Blast shares that the country singer claimed that he could not recall the 19-year-old’s name, adding that her family also confronted him about the alleged incident.
Inside Taylor Frankie Paul’s Altercation With Her Ex

Taylor has got herself some negative PR after a recent video was released showing a side of her that fans had never seen. The “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star has been in the limelight previously for allegedly getting violent with her ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen. The recently released footage shows Taylor and Mortensen in an argument that got heated within seconds.
The TV star was then seen kicking her ex, pulling his hair, and throwing chairs at him. During the altercation, she also attempted to knock his phone out of his hand. According to reports, she threw “several heavy, metal chairs” at him, one of which allegedly hit her 5-year-old daughter in the head.
As shared by The Blast, the 2023 incident went down with Taylor pleading guilty to aggravated assault that year after the Utah police force intervened. She was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault and two felony counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child.
Taylor Frankie Paul’s ‘The Bachelorette’ Career Gets On The Bench
With the news of the star’s domestic assault case making headlines once again, ABC decided to cancel the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette,” which was scheduled to premiere on March 22. They announced in a statement, which read:
“In light of the newly released video that has just surfaced today, we have made the decision not to move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
ABC’s decision to cancel the season comes before Taylor’s debut on the show. She features on the popular Hulu show, “TSLOMW,” which is currently filming its fifth season. The Blast reported that the shooting had to be paused in light of the domestic assault case. According to insiders, Taylor has stuff to sort out from her past, and while she does, some co-stars have distanced themselves from her.
