Nearly a year before Allman's double arrests, he sparked concerns for his substance abuse issues after he nearly died from an overdose. The incident occurred in June 2025, with sources claiming Cher's son was lucky to be alive.

These sources noted that, like any mother, Cher was worried about her son and would do whatever was necessary to help him bounce back. She tried to get Allman under her care in 2023 when she filed for immediate conservatorship, citing her son's substance abuse problems.

It was reported that a judge had dismissed Cher's request in January 2024 after Allman fought against the conservatorship. At the time, the singer's son noted that he understood his mother's petition came from a loving and supportive place. Nonetheless, he did not need her "unsolicited help."

Before Allman became estranged from his wife, Marieangela King, The Blast reported that the latter had caused a stir in 2022. At the time, King filed a court declaration where she accused Cher of kidnapping Allman on their wedding anniversary.

According to King, on November 30, 2022, the night of her wedding anniversary with Allman, four men had broken into their room. These men allegedly kidnapped Allman, claiming they were acting on Cher's orders.

The "Dark Lady" hitmaker eventually broke her silence on the kidnapping allegations in a 2023 interview, stressing that King's claims were "not true." Cher also reflected on her struggles as a mother with a troubled son, explaining that she did her best to protect Allman.

Will Cher address her son's second arrest in three days?
