Britney Spears’s father, Jamie Spears, says he is not the one who is keeping his daughter from getting married or having a baby — in fact, he wants to make sure it’s clear he has nothing to do with any of her medical treatment or restrictions.
According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Jamie claims he is concerned following his daughter’s heartbreaking testimony about her issues with the conservatorship. As you know, many blame him for the situation, knowing he is one of the people in charge of the case. But, Jamie wants to clarify he has not been Britney’s personal conservator since 2019 and has nothing to do with her medical care.
In the filing, Jamie points out that it was Britney’s own lawyer who filed to appoint Jodi Montgomery as the conservator of the pop star. So, any beef Britney has with the treatment or the restrictions on her life — it rests solely with Ms. Montgomery.
Jamie Spears: I Don’t Make Any Medical Decisions!
As we reported, Britney is getting massive support over the issue of being forced to take birth control and not being able to get married and have children. During her recent testimony, Britney claims she is being forced to wear an IUD to keep from getting pregnant, and not only can’t she get married, but she also can’t even ride in her boyfriend’s car. According to Jamie Spears, none of this is his fault.
According to his legal team, “Mr. Spears does not speak or meet with Ms. Spears’ medical team, and he is not permitted to nor does he have the opportunity to provide any input into his daughter’s current medical treatment, diagnosis, or therapy. Nor does Mr. Spears participate in or discuss Ms. Spears’ personal affairs with her, such as issues related to her self-care, marriage, and reproductive desires.”
They continued, “These are issues under the purview of Ms. Montgomery as Ms. Spears’ conservator of the person, and issues that Ms. Spears presumably discusses with her court-appointed attorney, Mr. Ingham. Mr. Spears is simply not involved in any decisions related to Ms. Spears’ personal care or medical or reproductive issues.”
Interestingly, Britney’s dad included PROOF that he isn’t holding her back from getting married — in fact, he reminded the court that he approved a possible marriage for Britney back in 2011 to her then-fiance Jason Trawick. As you know, the couple split before actually getting married in 2013.
Britney Spears Father Says It Isn’t His Fault!
In the end, Britney’s dad claims he is concerned about the issues she brought up in court and “Mr. Spears believes it is important for the integrity of the conservatorship proceedings and in the best interests of Ms. Spears for the Court to order an investigation into the issues and claims raised by [Britney].”
Adding, “Either the allegations will be shown to be true, in which case corrective action must be taken, or they will be shown to be false, in which case the conservatorship can continue its course.”
