Kaia Gerber Takes Jab At Exes Saying It Is 'So Much Better' To Date Your Friend

Kaia Gerber has a few regrets about her past relationships after finding a man who loves her for who she is.

The daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and the businessman Rande Gerber recently reflected on her relationship history and how her current boyfriend, actor Lewis Pullman, differs from the rest.

Kaia Gerber has been romantically linked to multiple A-listers, including "Saturday Night Live" star Pete Davidson, when she was just 18.

Gerber recently sat down for a heart-to-heart conversation with her pal Jake Shane on his "Therapuss" podcast. The host shared the episode on his YouTube channel, capturing the model's reflection on her past relationships and why she believed one should date their friends.

"I really feel like if you have the opportunity to date a friend, do it. 'Cause it just is so much better," Gerber advised Shane. She noted friendship was needed to build a strong and lasting romantic relationship, noting it was "a whole other thing" to date someone you consider a friend.

"Date someone that you would be friends with anyways. Don't date someone just 'cause you're sexually attracted to them and are in lust with them," Gerber continued. She threw a subtle jab at her exes, adding, "You should sleep with those people for sure, but you don't need to make them your partners."

Gerber noted her advice to date a friend stemmed from her experiences with older men. She recalled dating multiple men who were older than her and transforming herself to fit their image rather than embracing her genuine self.

Although Gerber stressed that it wasn't her exes' fault that she altered herself for them, she couldn't help but lament how these men ended up disliking the real her. She claimed she had been willing to "give up everything" to prove her love to these men.

Gerber did so by changing herself; however, she alleged that the moment she started to reveal her genuine self, her exes weren't interested. "They're like: 'No, I liked that person before,'" she recalled. Eventually, she realized it was wrong to build a relationship or hope to gain respect through a false image of herself.

Thanks to the valuable lessons from her past relationships, Gerber currently enjoys a blossoming romance with actor Lewis Pullman. She raved about their bond, noting he treasured her for who she really is.

Gerber explained that she no longer had to change her personality or values to prove her love because Pullman adored every single part of her. She recalled their conversation about her past, claiming her boyfriend said:

"The amazing thing about you is the person that ends up loving you is gonna be so obsessed with you, because you are such a specific person."

Before meeting Mr. Right, Gerber made headlines for dating popular entertainers like comedian Pete Davidson. The pair raised eyebrows because their relationship began when the actress was 18 and Davidson was 26.

They briefly dated from October to December 2019, breaking up before Davidson entered rehab. Gerber moved on with actor Jacob Elordi in 2020, and they frequently gushed about their feelings for each other until their separation in November 2021.

Next came a three-year romance with actor Austin Butler, which began in December 2021 and lasted until late 2024. Finally, Gerber became linked to her current beau in January 2025.

A source confirmed the news to PEOPLE after they were seen celebrating Lewis' father, actor Bill Pullman's birthday at the Los Angeles hotspot, Salazar.

Two years before addressing her past relationships, The Blast shared that Gerber had accepted her status as a "Nepo Baby." She did not shy away from the label but accepted it positively rather than the stigma attached to the name.

Gerber expressed gratitude to her parents for their influence on her career, especially her mother. She noted her modelling career kicked off thanks to the influential people she met through Crawford. However, she stressed that her talents were a key factor in her successes.

Although she credited her mom's circle for boosting her modelling gigs, Gerber took full credit for her acting career. She claimed that no one in the entertainment business would risk their career for a famous person's child and patted herself on the back for scoring roles with her skills.
