Kaia was on Elle's latest magazine cover for its February 2023 issue. During the interview, the actress addressed comments about nepotism in Hollywood and refused to give into the negative meaning associated with the term "nepo baby." The term is often heard in recent months and, according to the Urban Dictionary, is "a child of a famous actor/celebrity who got famous due to nepotism."

Kaia acknowledged the role of her parents' influence in her modeling career and said that she was well aware of how privileged she was. "I won't deny the privilege that I have," the model said.

"Even if it's just the fact that I have a really great source of information and someone to give me great advice, that alone I feel very fortunate for," Kaia continued. "My mom always joked, 'If I could call and book a Chanel campaign, it would be for me and not you.' But I also have met amazing people through my mom, whom I now get to work with," she says.

Further on, the new actress revealed that, unlike her modeling career, her hard work was solely responsible for the success of her acting career. The social media personality recently starred in "Babylon" and was a cast member in "American Horror Story" season 10. More movie projects are lined up for the model in the future.

She said to Elle, "With acting, it's so different. No artist is going to sacrifice their vision for someone's kid. That just isn't how art is made, and what I'm interested in is art. Also, no one wants to work with someone who's annoying, and not easy to work with, and not kind."

Kaia concluded by acknowledging nepotism in the industry but noting that it is not as powerful as it is thought to be. "Yes, nepotism is prevalent, but I think if it actually was what people make it out to be, we'd see even more of it," she added.

While talking about things her supermodel mother taught her as a teenager in the modeling industry, Kaia revealed that she was advised to always be on time and to "be nice to everyone."

"If you're not grateful and happy to be there, there's someone who would be. Even when I was really tired, or wanted to go home, or felt lonely, I would remind myself how lucky I was," the model added. Kaia also disclosed that her mother told her to write more things down and start journaling.

"Another thing she told me is, 'I wish I had written more down,' because you think you're going to remember these amazing moments forever, and one day, it's hard to even know what shoot that was, where it happened, and when," she says. "And so I wrote it down; I journaled."

In addition to several other celebrity offspring, Kaia was mentioned as a beneficiary of her parents' fame in the "Nepo Baby" piece released by New York Magazine in December 2022. The actress's mother, Crawford, is one of the most iconic runway stars of all time, and her father, Randell, is the co-founder of Casamigos as well as a nightlife entrepreneur.

The piece featured several celebrities who benefited from their last name as well as the status of their parents and access to key areas in Hollywood. Some of the mentioned names include Dakota Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Jaden Smith, Zoe Kravitz, and others.

A number of celebrities have spoken up about the title, with Kravitz saying it made her uncomfortable and Tom Hanks dismissing it while calling acting a "family business." The actor's four children all have ties to the acting industry.
