Lil Nas X’s Family Reportedly Planning Intervention After Arrest And Public Meltdown

Lil Nas X’s loved ones are reportedly preparing to intervene following the rapper’s shocking public meltdown in Los Angeles early Thursday morning. The 26-year-old “Old Town Road” star, born Montero Lamar Hill, was arrested for battery on a police officer after he was spotted wandering down the middle of a street wearing nothing but white underwear and cowboy boots. Witnesses say Lil Nas X allegedly charged at officers early in the morning before being taken to a hospital for a possible overdose and later placed under arrest.

According to an insider who spoke to Daily Mail, the rapper's family and friends are desperate to get him help and are considering staging an intervention. They reportedly fear that the Grammy winner is being taken advantage of by people in his inner circle.

“Nas doesn’t feel that he can trust many people from his past because they tried to exploit him financially,” the source explained. “But some of those people suspect his new friends can’t be trusted either. He’s been hanging around some seedy characters in L.A. who some people suspect have been leeching off him and living in his house.”

That same source added that his family is determined to step in before things spiral further. “His family wants to support him, but they’re very worried he’s being exploited," they claimed, adding that they are planning on hosting an intervention.

The troubling arrest comes just months after Lil Nas X admitted he had been struggling behind the scenes. Back in February, the musician shared a candid video where he described himself as “flaky” and “all over the place,” acknowledging that the past few years had taken a serious toll.

“These last few years were pretty difficult for me,” he confessed in the clip, later re-shared by fans on X. “I’m just now, like, arriving to this place of feeling confidence in myself and what I’m doing. And I’m trying to make sure I put intention towards my music and my vision and the creativity of it all.”

His struggles carried over into April, when he revealed to followers that he had been hospitalized after suddenly losing “control of the right side” of his face. “It’s like, what the f-ck, bro? I can’t even laugh right, bro,” he said in the video, appearing shaken. Though he later assured fans his condition was improving, he admitted his right eye was still “stubborn” and that smiling remained difficult.

Lil Nas X has also been open about how personal tragedy shaped his struggles. In a 2020 interview with Variety, the rapper revealed that he turned to self-medicating after the death of his grandmother in 2018, a loss he described as devastating.

“My grandmother passing ... She was the first person close to me who died,” he shared. “It was devastating. And it made me a hypochondriac. I’d wake up, heart racing. It was scary.”

The “Industry Baby” star admitted that he began “smoking [weed] heavily” in the aftermath, explaining that it gave him a sense of comfort. “It made me feel more connected with the universe,” he said at the time.

Controversy isn’t new for Lil Nas X, and one of his most headline-grabbing moments came on Halloween 2023. The rapper shocked fans after posting a video of himself dressed as a giant tampon, complete with a padded white tunic dress splattered with red dye at the top. The clip opened with a close-up of fabric designed to resemble a v-gina before revealing the star dragging a long white string behind him.

He paired the costume with towering white boots and a blonde wig streaked with red. But not everyone found it funny. In fact, one critic on X called the look “irritating, nasty, and disgusting,” while others labeled the display “gross” and “attention-seeking.”

Before his recent struggles Lil Nas X often spoke about the bold self-belief that fueled his rise to fame. At the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards, where he took home one of the night’s biggest honors, the rapper delivered an emotional speech crediting “delusion” for his success.

“I wouldn't be where I am right now if I weren't delusional. Believing I could drop out of school and become an international success within a year. It's delusional!” he said before pointing to his decision to come out in 2019, calling it another risk few thought possible. “To think that I could do a song about a man lusting after another man … and that it could be the number one song in the world. It’s delusional.”

The rapper ended his speech by urging fans to embrace that same mindset, telling fans, “When you have a vision in mind, you can be delusional.”
