Dave Bautista is man of many talents— an American actor, former mixed martial artist, retired pro wrestler, and bodybuilder. 

He began his professional wrestling career in 2002 and was regularly involved until 2010. After a hiatus, he came back in 2014, then had a final run from 2018 to 2019 before retiring. 

He also became a movie sensation after featuring in the main cast of Marvel’s “Drax The Destroyer.” 

Recently, the actor made headlines after starring in Zack Snyder’s zombie movie titled “Army of the Dead.” Shockingly, Bautista says he had some reservations about this role.

Dave Bautista Had His Doubts About “AOTD”

On Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show,” Bautista disclosed to Jimmy Fallon that he had huge doubts about the zombie film. 

He further revealed that he was initially supposed to star in another Snyder movie, but the film director’s agent changed his mind. 

“... he told me the movie wasn’t going anywhere, but he said Zack’s next film was 'Army of the Dead,'” Bautista told Fallon. 

After he discovered that the next movie was about zombies, Bautista said he did not think the movie would help him prove himself as a great actor. 

As it turns out, the actor was wrong about a lot of things, as his lead role in the movie is a must watch for fans all over the world.

Bautista Was Impressed With His Role

According to the actor, when Snyder handed him the movie script to read, he was shocked at the role he was intended to play. 

The actor, who is known for many action movies, said that the lead cast in “AOTD,” ‘was not your predictable action hero. He’s got some depth to him, some emotion,’ which was everything he wanted. 

“I got to be a tough guy, bad-a**, but I also got to be a father looking to redeem himself with his daughter,” he noted to Fallon. 

Bautista was not the only one impressed with his role, as fans had a lot of impressive reviews for the actor’s acting skills in the film.

Dubbed a “stupidly entertaining movie,” by “Empire,” the 2021 American zombie heist centers on a former mercenary, Scott Ward. 

Ward and a team of his choice, were tasked with retrieving $200 million from Bly Tanaka’s casino vault in Las Vegas, which was tagged the ‘City of the Dead.’ 

This group had to open a difficult safe and return with the money before the military deploys a tactical nuclear strike to destroy the city. 

Unknown to them, Tanaka had other plans in store for them. 

The exciting movie premiered at number one on US Netflix and grossed over $1 million in the ten days after its release date.

Bautista was born in Washington, D.C. U.S. on January 18, 1969. 

Aside from his Drax role, he featured in Marvel film including the two “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avenger: Endgame.” 

He also has made television appearances in shows like “Family Feud,” “Iron Chef America,” and “MTV Cribs.” 

In 2012, the 52-year-old won his lone MMA fight against Vince Lucero in the first round. Although Bautista had an impressive wrestling career, he has decided to focus more on his acting talent. 

According to reports, the actor will appear in “Knives Out” sequel.
