Tom Schwartz Reunites With Ex-Wife Katie Maloney During Podcast Debut

"Vanderpump Rules" stars and ex-lovers Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney are reuniting on the first episode of Schwartz's new podcast, "Detox Retox."
In a new interview, the Bravo veterans, who experienced many ups and downs during their relationship while filming the explosive reality show, opened up about where they're at in life today and their experience living their lives in front of the cameras.
Tom Schwartz Loved Reconnecting With His Ex-Wife On His New Podcast
While speaking with Us Weekly about his new show, Schwartz, 42, revealed his first guest would be his ex-wife, Maloney, whom he married in 2016 but later separated from in 2022.
“It was so nice catching up with Katie at her new place, just chilling with the dogs," he said. "We cracked open a bottle of Witches of Weho Pinot Noir to reflect on some vintage 'Vanderpump Rules' memories."
Schwartz, who faced much heat from his co-stars and some of the show's fans during the lowest points of his relationship, also said he was "happy" to see Maloney doing so well.
“I’m so happy to see her happy. I’ll always cherish the time we had together — truly one of the most unique experiences two people could share," he added.
Maloney seemingly agreed, adding, “I enjoyed sipping on some witches of Weho wine. Talking about 'VPR' days, a light roast in the mix, and where we are today.”
Tom Schwartz Is Ready For His Next Chapter
And speaking about where they are today, Schwartz explained how excited he was to show fans a different side of himself while on this new journey.
“I’m excited to be taking people along for this new ride. This new era is about growth, good vibes, and maybe a little mischief,” he joked. “We’ll explore self-improvement and indulge in life’s pleasures — mindfully, of course. And if we fall apart a bit? That’s OK too.”
According to Schwartz, the podcast's purpose is to promote "balance" and help improve one's well-being.
“It’s not self-destructive or mindless. It’s cheat day energy. Treat yourself energy. Indulge a little, because we all deserve to find that extraordinary balance,” he continued. “There will be more emphasis on detox, nurturing yourself emotionally, physically, and spiritually.”
'Detox Retox' Is Tom Schwartz's 'Passion Project'
Schwartz, who also co-owns TomTom, a popular restaurant and bar in West Hollywood, called his new podcast, which will debut on April 22, 2025, his "passion project," which will feature a little bit of everything.
He said, “This is a true passion project. We’ll kick things off with some of my fabulous friends from the reality TV world —it’s my wheelhouse — then branch out to conversations with scholars, scientists, metaphysical minds, and everyday humans with extraordinary stories. A pursuit of harmony, happiness, and a little enlightenment. Lots of heart. Lots of soul.”
Schwartz And Maloney Are In A Much Better Place
Even though Maloney and Schwartz are enjoying each other's presence today, it hasn't always been that way.
In 2023, after the news of Tom Sandoval's shocking affair with Raquel Leviss broke the internet, more info surfaced, including the fact that Schwartz and Leviss had made out at one point.
During a previous conversation with Jax Taylor on his once-shared podcast, "When Reality Hits," the reality star opened up about regretting his actions.
“Had I known she was going to be so hurt, I would have never done it,” he admitted.
“I still love her and respect her a lot, we're cordial. But she’s so busy opening up her sandwich shop and it looks freaking awesome. We’re cool,” he said.
Schwartz's Relationship With Sandoval Has Been Strained
Recently, Schwartz also shared how the loss of his shared bar with Sandoval, Schwartz & Sandy's, impacted their relationship.
After closing the establishment's doors in December 2024 for financial reasons, Schwartz revealed in April 2025 that it caused much "tension" between the two men.
"The financial aspect really put our friendship to the test. Unfortunately, it almost destroyed our friendship at one point. But I have closure," he said.
"He's family for me," he continued. "I will always love Tom Sandoval, but of course, I have some deep-rooted frustrations still. But not holding onto that sh-t."
He went on to say that he was "proud" of what the two of them had built and that he had also learned some valuable lessons along the way.
"I have more grit," he said. "I feel like I have just a newfound respect and appreciation for life. I just feel like I’m growing in so many ways. I don’t know if it shows through my actions, but I can feel it.”
