It seems Hilaria Baldwin knew exactly what to get her husband, Alec Baldwin, ahead of his "Rust" trial last July.
The couple exchanged anniversary gifts a few days before the highly publicized trial, which could have put the "30 Rock" actor behind bars for 18 months if he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

While most people were watching the Oscars, the March 2 episode of TLC’s “The Baldwins” continued to cover the time before the actor’s “Rust” shooting trial.
Ahead of their anniversary, which took place only two days before the trial’s start date, Hilaria told her oldest daughter Carmen, 11, that she was giving her husband a necklace of St. Michael and a silk scarf featuring his image for their anniversary.
“I'm hoping that he'll wear it and it says we're here to protect you, stand with you, love you. You are not alone,” she said in comments transcribed by People magazine.
In Spanish, Hilaria added, “We are a good team. May God be with you today and always.”

In a confessional, Hilaria explained, “Whether or not I go to New Mexico, I want him to know that I am always by his side.”
“I am always with him,” she continued. “And I hope that this gift will be something that he can hold with him every single day and know that I am by his side.”
“In my very bad moments, I will let my mind start to wander and spiral,” she went on to say. “I think about what's the worst case scenario. I believe that the worst case scenario is, if they can convince people to find him guilty, they will take him away right there.”

When the couple exchanged gifts, Hilaria explained to St. Michael that he was the “saint of protection” and meant to keep him safe during the trial. Alec responded, “Let’s get his cell phone number.”
It seemed like an ominous sign when they discovered that the necklace wasn’t “even close” to fitting around his neck. However, Hilaria remained undeterred, adding, “I think one of the most important things when we’re facing challenges is to know there’s something bigger than us — regardless of what you believe. Because faith will guide us out of this dark period.”

In response, the “30 Rock” actor got his wife a set of pearl earrings and a card, along with a promise that they would “rebuild” their lives together once the trial was done and over with. However, he took another moment to slip in a joke, noting, “If it doesn't go well, we have to sell those earrings right away.”
Fortunately, the trial ended on the third day of witness testimony after the judge decided that the prosecution had failed to disclose evidence to Baldwin’s legal team in a clear violation of the Brady rule. The involuntary manslaughter charges were dismissed with prejudice, which means he can no longer face criminal consequences for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Carmen Was ‘Devastated’ By Her Father’s Trial

During the same episode, it was revealed that their oldest daughter, Carmen, was devastated by the trial and had to sleep in a room with her brothers due to her sudden fear of being alone.
"When Alec was charged the first time, Carmen would not be alone in a room for months. We had to move a bed into sleeping with the boys," Hilaria said in a confessional. "She has a fear of: 'Is our family going to be torn apart?' So with that, there is an awareness of what's going on."
"Carmen asked me last night. She said, 'When Daddy goes to New Mexico, do I have to say goodbye to him?' " she continued, becoming emotional as she spoke. "'Like I have to say goodbye to him for a long time? Should I say goodbye to him in a special way, like I won't see him for a long time because they're trying to take my daddy from me?'"
"And I said, 'Yeah, you should.' And she just lost it," the mom of seven says. "So you know, we've never even been away from each other for three weeks. So if he goes there, that's never even happened."
The couple has seven children: daughters Ilaria Catalina Irena, 2, María Lucía Victoria, 3, and Carmen Gabriela, 11, along with sons Eduardo "Edu" Pao Lucas, 4. Romeo Alejandro David, 6, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 7, and Rafael Thomas, 9. Alec is also a father to model Ireland Baldwin, 29, whom he shares with his ex-wife, "Batman' actress Kim Basinger.
