Paige DeSorbo Hints At Reasoning Behind Craig Conover Split

Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover have ended their relationship.

The "Summer House" and "Southern Charm" stars, who first met during the inaugural season of Bravo's "Winter House," were together for three years before parting ways.

The breakup seems to be a mutual decision, as DeSorbo shared on the latest episode of her "Giggly Squad" podcast, released on Monday, December 30, that she and Conover "have decided to no longer be together."

While Craig Conover has yet to address the split publicly, Paige DeSorbo alluded to the changes both of them have gone through during their time as a couple.

DeSorbo told the podcast co-host that she "wasn't expecting this."

"It’s weird, it’s very weird, she said. "Obviously, when we first started dating, you don’t think, ‘Oh, what will happen? Will we get married, will we not?' You’re just kind of like, in this relationship."

The Bravo star didn't reveal what caused the breakup, but it appears to be amicable. "Not to sound traditional and old fashioned, this is not a situation where I have, like, a 50-part series of ‘Who the f-ck was I dating?’" she joked. "Could not be more opposite of that."

DeSorbo added, "I have so much love and respect for Craig. I think he is one of the best people I have ever met in my entire life. I will remain the biggest fan of him and want the best for him and he truly will get the best because he is the best. But with that said, I think it was just the right decision for both of us moving forward in our lives and the direction in our lives that we didn’t force."

DeSorbo suggested that the split was a result of personal changes they've both undergone during their time together.

"As you get older, I mean, I started dating Craig when I was 29 and I’m 32 now," she said on the podcast. "And your 30s, for women, I feel like are very transformative. And you change a lot and you grow a lot. Him as well."

"It’s a very sad thing," she continued, emotional. "I know I said I would never cry on the internet but like, it’s okay if I cry on the pod. I feel like that’s okay."

She also didn't specify when they split but emphasized that it had nothing to do with the premieres of their respective Bravo shows.

“I love him, I think he loves me,” she added. “I think we will remain friends. No one did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing. I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want, and I think that’s extremely powerful to be able to voice how you’re feeling in real-time and what you want for your future.”

“He’s definitely the best boyfriend I’ve ever had, like, I can truly say that," DeSorbo said. "He was a great boyfriend, and he did everything correct, and he never made me feel insecure or anything like that, so it almost is harder when no one’s done anything to be mad about, and that’s hard."

The announcement comes just weeks after Conover dismissed breakup rumors in an interview with E! News.

“I don’t know where that came from, because we’re together, like, every week,” the "Southern Charm" star said at the timme. “So, no, Paige and I are not broken up. We’re still together.”

DeSorbo and Conover maintained a long-distance relationship, with DeSorbo based in New York City and Conover living in Charleston, South Carolina. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in September, Conover shared how the couple managed the challenges of being apart.

“It’s really just not letting the unknown of the future ruin our happiness today. And that was a decision that we had to make, and some people might not be able to do that, and sometimes it does get stressful and tough not being able to have a plan,” he said at the time.

“But in reality, we don’t need to right now. With our ability to travel and technology, we’re very fortunate to be able to spend, you know, half our time in New York and the other half in Charleston," he added. "And they’re two great places to live. … I think finding the right person is the hard part, and then figuring out the rest will just come in time.”
