Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly fled the United States for England due to dissatisfaction with the political climate following Donald Trump's presidential victory in the election.

The couple is seemingly planning to put up their Montecito mansion for sale, having snapped up a home in the Cotswolds area on the outskirts of London.

It comes after the retired comedian Ellen DeGeneres suffered a career setback after she was accused of fostering a toxic work environment.

DeGeneres and de Rossi ditched the U.S. for England following Trump's landslide victory at the recently held polls.

According to The Wrap, the comedian and her wife have uprooted their lives in the Santa Barbara enclave for a rural setting in the Cotswolds, a star-studded community in southwest England that sits 100 miles outside London.

The 66-year-old former TV host appears to be planning to put their Montecito Mansion up for sale, which suggests the move is a permanent one, at least for the foreseeable future.

A source close to DeGeneres claimed that she and De Rossi were primarily leaving the country in response to Trump's win at the November 5 election.

DeGeneres and De Rossi's relocation may seemingly afford them a breath of fresh air after the talk show host came under fire for fostering a toxic workplace.

A BuzzfeedNews report, in which current and former staff at the time spoke anonymously detailing their experiences working for her, alleged that she often penalized them for taking medical leave and also portrayed racial microaggressions against them.

A second report about the show's toxic work environment detailed instances of alleged sexual misconduct involving the show's three top producers.

Following the reports, DeGeneres's long-running show seemingly took a hit as three members of its production team exited before it was later announced that the show would end in 2022.

In April, DeGeneres opened up about her unceremonious exit from TV screens while performing her standup routine at the Largo in Los Angeles. At  the event, she joked about getting "kicked out of show business" for being "mean."

Noting that she had become the "most hated person in America," she went on to admit that the scrutiny reduced her television persona into an unrecognizable one.

"The hate went on for a long time, and I would try to avoid looking at the news," she recalled, per People Magazine. "The 'be kind' girl wasn't kind. That was the headline."

Noting how she ended her talk show each day by saying, "Be kind to one another," DeGeneres joked that it became a "problem" because people started to think of her as a "one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps."

DeGeneres was asked if she continued to "dance" during the ordeal as she'd been known for, but she admitted that she couldn't practice what she preached on her show.

"No... It's hard to dance when you're crying," she said, adding that she "had a hard time" and "didn't get out" amid the scandal.

She later shared that she was able to go through the trying phase with the help of her wife and that they're both "dancing now."
