Taylor Swift Hits Legal Snag During 'Lover' Domination

Taylor Swift doesn't take many L's, but unfortunately her recent attempt at locking up the rights to the title of her latest album isn't going so well.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Swift's latest registration application to merchandise "Lover," is being refused by U.S. Patent & Trademark Officials.
USPTO
Back in July, Tay filed to trademark "Lover" for a ton of products she is planning on producing, all featuring the title of her 7th studio album.
Some of the merch she wanted to slap "Lover" on included; phone cases, guitar picks, key chains, stationary and drinking glasses.
According to officials, the singer's application conflicts with too many other products already using the word "Lover" in their name.
The documents, filed on September 11, state that Swift's "Lover" will cause a, "likelihood of confusion" among the other registered trademarks ... and therefore are refusing to push it through.
Officials also want the star to file a document with her signature to verify the applications legitimacy.
All hope is not lost for the star, however, as USPTO officials are giving her a chance to fix the application and resubmit for examination.
It's a small setback for Swift, who has been seeing lots of success lately after the release of the "Lover."
It dropped on August 23 and sold 3 million album-equivalent units within its first week of release, and debuted at number one in countries including Australia, Canada, Ireland, Spain, the UK, and the US.
However, it was quickly bumped out of #1 by Tool's new album ... much to the dismay of Swifties.
