Ryan O'Neal's son, Redmond O'Neal, has not given the hospital a valid reason to let him leave the facility amid his mental health issues.

The late actor's son is reportedly showing zero signs of recovery from his diagnoses at his holding institution in Los Angeles.

The celebrity's son has been diagnosed with "schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and antisocial personality disorder" and reportedly remained unresponsive to treatment since his admission to the facility.

The insider also disclosed that he has waves of consciousness where he realizes his situation and cries "sometimes uncontrollably."

Redmond was accused of heroin and meth possession in 2018, alongside armed robbery, stabbing a man, and injuring another with a broken bottle.

He has reportedly spent most of his life in jail, treatment centers, or psychiatric wards. Sources added that the 39-year-old could not attend his father's funeral after he died of heart failure last December.

The Blast noted that the late actor reportedly shared a rocky relationship with some of his children during his lifetime, resulting in their absence at his farewell program.

Ryan's son, Griffin topped the list as sharing the most complicated relationship with Ryan over his difficult childhood. Griffin noted that they never smoothened out their differences before his death, and he was uninvited to his father's funeral because of his comments about the family's dark past.

"I wasn't even invited to send him off. I'm the hated son who told the truth—dark times in this family. Love means never having to say you're sorry — and Ryan never did to anyone," declared the 60-year-old.

Ryan's life and death were laced with many controversies, and upon him being buried beside Fawcett, her friends registered their displeasure.

Fawcett's friends claimed the late celebrity's last wish was to be cremated and have her ashes transported back to Texas. They accused Ryan of defaulting and burying her in Los Angeles instead for his selfish plans. In the words of her friend:

"She never wanted a burial or a monument where people could come gawk at her. Ryan created this narrative like it was this big love story."

Ryan and Fawcett began their relationship in the late 70s and welcomed their son Redmond in 1985. They remained lovers until 1997 when the actor was caught cheating in an affair with actress Leslie Stefanson.

While they may have had one of the greatest love stories in Hollywood, the relationship came at a price, and it was Ryan's bond with his children, especially Tatum and Griffin.

"My dad doesn't have any idea how horrendous his leaving was for us," Tatum disclosed, adding that Ryan emotionally and physically abused them while exposing Griffin to drugs. Griffin narrated his experience as a result of Ryan's poor parenting. In his words:

"My life has been a reign of drug and alcohol degradation. I had to self-medicate my entire life because there was pain everywhere." 

He admitted that the 60s and 70s were a tough time for him and Tatum and added: "My whole family has been absolutely destroyed to smithereens from drug addiction and alcoholism."

The late actor passed on at the age of 82, and The Blast confirmed from his death certificate that he died from "congestive heart failure" after suffering from "cardiomyopathy" for years.

The Hollywood legend was admitted to St. John's Medical in Los Angeles before he died. The document stated that he was buried at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park.

Patrick announced his death last December with an emotional tribute on his social media as he revealed that he died surrounded by his loved ones.
