A Look Into Josh Waring's Troubled Past

The late father-of-one had a tumultuous history marked by legal troubles. In 2020, after spending significant time behind bars, Waring was released following a plea deal, as reported by The Blast.

Waring had initially pleaded guilty to several felony charges, including evading a peace officer, assault with a firearm, hit-and-run with property damage, and battery.

These charges stemmed from a 2016 incident where Waring allegedly shot at a man outside a sober living home, but the victim survived the attack. Despite originally pleading not guilty, Waring's legal journey lasted several years while he was in Orange County jail on a $1 million bond.

The resolution of his case came after negotiations with prosecutors led to a plea deal, ending a prolonged and troubled legal battle.

Lauri Peterson's Fight For Justice

After the 2016 arrest, Waring's legal issues became a protracted affair, with multiple attempts to secure bond denied. His pleas for release to enter drug rehabilitation were also denied.

Throughout the process, Peterson was vocal in her fight for her son, accusing jail officials of mistreating him. She alleged that Waring's conditions were dire and that he was placed in a high-risk environment that increased his suffering.

"I am horrified, sad, brokenhearted, disgusted, and appalled by my son's condition!" Peterson stated, denouncing the prison system's handling of his case before adding, "This situation should have never been allowed to happen as Josh is SEP, which is that he is never allowed contact with anyone."
