Gwyneth Paltrow and socialite Derek Blasberg's friendship was tested after an embarrassing incident that reportedly saw him flee her Hamptons home.
Earlier this month, Blasberg was revealed as the person responsible for messing Paltrow's beddings after he seemingly lost control of his bowel.
A source shared that Gwyneth Paltrow is "horrified" at the incident and that the pair may take a break from each other as friends, especially after she was suspected of having leaked details about the embarrassing incident.
Gwyneth Paltrow 'Horrified' By Derek Blasberg's Alleged Diarrhea Incident
The Oscar-winning actress and wellness guru was reportedly left reeling after her friend, Blasberg, made a hasty exit from her Hamptons home after losing control of his bowels and leaving an unsightly mess in her bed.
According to the Daily Mail, a source shared that Gwyneth was "horrified" by the incident and "feels bad" about it but hopes that they'll "eventually laugh" over it sometime soon; however, their friendship may not be the same as it used to be for the foreseeable future.
"Gwyneth would like to eventually laugh about this with Derek, but currently there is still much embarrassment," a source told the news outlet. "They both know that if they are ever seen together or if he ever returns to her house, they go out to dinner, it will be the only thing people will be talking about."
What Was The Diarrhea Incident All About?
News of the embarrassing incident hit popular gossip newsletter Popb-tch as a blind item last month, with the claim that Paltrow was left with the task of cleaning up after a then-unnamed guest for their "Ozempic-induced diarrhea."
"The story goes that a recent houseguest of Gwynnie's catastrophically sh-t themselves in bed while staying there, then fled back to the city before they had to face the music," the publication spilled.
The report further noted that the scandal had become "the Hamptons set's favorite piece of gossip to text to each other."
They added, "Ozempic-induced diarrhea is becoming a very hot topic of conversation between hosts there—because so many of their guests are using it. So expect launderettes to be fully booked from July 4."
Insiders later told the Daily Mail that the culprit was, in fact, Blasberg, who blamed it on the side effect of using Ozempic before leaving Paltrow's home.
What Is Left Of Gwyneth Paltrow And Derek Blasberg's Friendship?
The unfortunate gastrointestinal incident had threatened to upend the years-long friendship between the Oscar-winning actress and the renowned fashion journalist, but the insider who spoke to the Daily Mail suggested that it most likely wouldn't get to that.
"It is not that they aren't friends and won't be friendly with each other in the future, it is just a bit difficult, and they both realize some time should pass before they hang out again," the insider quipped. "The likelihood of them being friends in the future is pretty good – she has moved on from worse events in her life."
The source added that Paltrow and her circle have since found humor in the whole story, shutting down claims that she was being seen as a snitch.
"She thought that it was horrifying at first, but has since found the humor in it and has had a good laugh about it," they added. "Most of Gwyneth's friends think it is shockingly hilarious and gross, but they aren't thinking differently about Gwyneth."
It Wasn't Gwyneth Paltrow Who Leaked The Story Of Derek Blasberg's Alleged Diarrhea Incident
The "Iron Man" actress came under fire after news of the incident found its way out of the closed enclave of her Hamptons set. However, she was seemingly exonerated when a new blind item from the same gossip newsletter suggested she wasn't the one who leaked the information.
"Ever since the phantom Hamptons c--pper was unveiled as celebrity barnacle Derek Blasberg, Gwyneth Paltrow has come in for quite a bit of flak," it read. "Society types are appalled she'd break a cardinal rule of hosting and blab about her guest's gastrointestinal indiscretion. But in fairness to Gwynnie, the leak may not have been her."
The news outlet explained that Paltrow was "lunching with Oprah Winfrey and Jerry Seinfeld when her irate housekeeper called, shouting about the horrors she'd discovered, yelling about how much she hates 'that f-cking friend' of hers. And – most damning – complaining about the tip that had been left at the scene of the crime."
A source told the Daily Mail that the actress-turned-businesswoman "does feel bad that it got out there and everyone in the world knows about it, but it will pass."
Gwyneth Paltrow Came Under Fire For Her 'Starvation' Diet
The actress was faced with severe backlash last year after she shared her shocking diet practices.
Paltrow revealed her daily wellness routine in March last year, and it quickly went viral, receiving criticism from celebs, fans, and medical professionals.
During an episode of her "Art of Being Well" podcast, with an IV drip in her arm, Paltrow said she often has a "nice intermittent fast."
The Goop founder revealed that she starts her days with coffee, which doesn't "spike her blood sugar," and doesn't eat until noon. She also shared that she loves eating soup and usually has "bone broth for lunch a lot the days."
Paltrow then said she has "one hour of movement" after lunch by taking a walk, doing Pilates, or a workout routine from Tracy Anderson. After that, she brushes in the sauna for half an hour and has a vegetable-heavy dinner, which "supports her detox."
After facing harsh criticisms, Paltrow shared that the diet is "working well" for her and that the interview was just her being open and not "meant to be advice for anyone else."
