Hilary Duff is known for her body-positive and balanced approach when it comes to lifestyle and body image, but she admitted that one aspect of her diet could land her under fire. Opening up about what she eats in May 2023, the Lizzie McGuire alum noted that actress Gwyneth Paltrow had gotten "in trouble" for revealing a very minimalistic start to the day, but Hilary preferred to tell the truth than make something up. Dishing deets on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast last summer, Hilary spoke of a caffeinated start, one taken on an empty stomach and with nothing coming after — well, not until later.

A Very Caffeinated Start

In her reveal, Hilary shared: "Sometimes I try to — you know, Gwyneth’s [got] in trouble for saying this — but sometimes I try to just drink coffee in the morning and starve off my hunger,” continuing: “I wake up really hungry.” Duff was likely referring to Gwyneth's reveal that she starts her morning with either coffee or celery juice with lemon or lemon water so as not to "spike" her "blood sugar."

Her Actual Breakfast

Hilary does, however, make sure that some food gets into her stomach before lunch. She's revealed loving egg-white protein powder, something she uses to make smoothies. For additions, she blends in berries, nut butters, and Greek yogurt to pack in extra protein and calcium. In the past, the former Disney star has noted a love of warm oatmeal and almond butter for breakfast.

Duff has also been a big fan of egg-white protein powder over the years to make a nutrient-dense smoothie to start her day. The star told Shape that her go-to recipe includes berries, Greek yogurt and nut butter to keep her powered until lunch. According to Cosmoshe also enjoys a cozy bowl of oatmeal with almond butter in the mornings.

Says She's 'Proud' Of Her Body

Of her body, the currently pregnant star told Women's Health: "I'm proud of my body. I'm proud that it's produced three children for me. I've gotten to a place of being peaceful with the changes my body has gone through. I also want people to know a makeup artist was there putting glow all over my body and someone put me in the most flattering position." Hilary has been known to slam super-slim celebrities and unreal body standards shared by stars on social media. She's also massively into self-love and has even called her postpartum changes "battle wounds."

That Nude Magazine Cover

Hilary wasn't afraid to bare all as she fronted Women's Health in May 2022. Posing totally nude and tastefully for the magazine's cover, Hilary showed off her toned legs and stomach, also flashing some curve as she showed a little chest. The nudie snap was safe, though, as the blonde protected her modesty via an arm and careful positioning.

"Thank you to everyone who normalized this day for me and propped me up with compliments and love," she wrote while sharing the cover to Instagram.
